Kismet

How appropriate that my one millionth visitor landed on this site today - the eve of Judgment Day, May 21, 2011 - aka "The End of the World as We Know It" .....

Hysteria regarding "Judgment Day" has reached fever pitch on the internet - whether they are mocking it or believing it - it's got everyone's attention.

Anyway....that particular date [tomorrow] has also been singled out by some Jewish sages [past and present] - it is the 17th of Iyar, erev Lag B'omer 5771.

To quote R'Akiva and R'Nati at Mystical Paths :

"....in our time and recent generations there has been a plethora of dates given. In recent years it’s increased to statements of holy rebbes, rosh yeshivas, mekubalim, tzadikim that we’re almost there, we’re there, we’re there soon, etc.
According to the Gra, the Vilna Gaon, one of the ways he taught (or rather wrote down, it wasn’t really to be shared) to calculate the ketz on it being “before it’s time in it’s time” gives an “early” date of the 17th of Iyar, 5771 and a “late” date of Rosh Chodesh Av, 5771.
As we stated in Part 1 of this FREAKING OUT article series, a (small) number of tzadikim in Jerusalem have given a warning that it’s best for Jews to be in Israel by the 17th of Iyar this year."

Have a peaceful Shabbat, thanks for reading my blog....
and I'll see you next week iy"H

Considering today's speech by President Obama, it may be too late to leave America after the 17th of Iyar5771.

I heard alittle more about this on the radio today-on the Rush Limbaugh show. After May 21st when xtians are suppose to disappear from the earth in an event called the Rapture, they say there will be 5 months of earthquakes all over the world. Then, the REAL end of the world will be on October 21, 2011. Sorry, I didn't hear the number leaving the earth, but I heard once 144,000 and also heard 600,00. This is from a xtian CULT....not mainstream xtianity..as far as I know.

I'd love to see Obama floating away tomorrow!

"But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.
"Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."
"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."

Hello, I'm a long-time lurker and just wanted to say congrats on your 1 millionth visitor! And thanks so much for your blog which I find great reading :-))) Re judgment day theories, have you heard of this site called Kabbalah Secrets at http://kabbalahsecrets.com/? The authors are mathematicians and Torah gematria experts, and they calculated that geulah will occur on 5778 or the year 2018 in the Western Calendar! Their calculations are fascinating to me. They've also written books called "The Divine Calendar" and "There's Nothing Random In The Universe" which are available for free downloads, that explain these gematria further. I'm not affiliated with them BTW, just stumbled on their site as I searched for Zohar links to Rabbi Shimon's hillula. Anyway, just thought you might be interested, and add another date to the mix! Chag Sameach, happy Lag Ba'Omer. Hope we all survive Judgment Day if it's today. Yikes :-))))

HI Sharon, I had a look at the kabbalah secrets site... it's neither jewish nor kosher, so it's not something I'd waste time on... but now I have my own Bible Code software....so who knows what I"ll come up with ::)

Hi again.....I asked a Christian pastor that I know to explain what this rapture is. Here is his explanation, which arrived in my box during Shabbat......

He said, "Obviously nothing is happening today. Harold Camping, the man who predicted this day, did this before. Very few take him seriously and it is all media hype."

"The passage that speaks of the "rapture" is in 2 Thessalonians 4: 13-18:

Verse 13: Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope. 14: We believe that J (I removed his full name), died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with J those who have fallen asleep in him. 15: According to the Lord’s own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16: For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17: After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18: Therefore encourage each other with these words."

He explains this: "There are four schools of thought in interpreting this and other passages regarding the return of Christ. Some read this event as the end of time, judgment and the new heaven and new earth. Others, a popular view, is that this passage speaks of a rapture of believers off the face of the earth which will then be followed by 7 years of tribulation. Those "left behind" will have opportunity to turn to God during those years, but there will be great persecution of any new believers, including the Jewish people. The anti-Christ etc will rule etc. But then the end comes and those raptured away will return with Christ to defeat the anti-Christ. Some then believe God will bring the final judgment, and the new heaven and earth at that point. Others think Christ will reign on earth for 1,000 years, satan is loosed for a short period, then final judgment etc."

Me again: I hope this is helpful to us in trying to understand what this "rapture" concept is and how it fits into their 'end of days' theories. And, sorry I previously got the number wrong...it means ALL of the believers in J that are suppose to 'leave' the earth, not the number I said above.

Keep up your tireless efforts and may HaShem grant you abundant blessings in keeping the message of hope for Israel and the world circulating.
