"Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of the seven days, in the day that the Lord bindeth up the bruise of His people, and healeth the stroke of their wound." Isaiah 30:26
"When Moshiach comes, G-d will take the sun out of its shield and the wicked will perish from its strength, but the righteous will be able to endure it...."

Does Moshiach know he's the Moshiach, or does he need to have this revealed to him?
ReplyDeleteSomeone did tell me that Moshiach doesn't know he is the Moshiach until the time comes and it is revealed to him. But I don't know for sure.
ReplyDeleteMoshiach has to know who he is, for many years he has been preparing himself for is future job, to build a New World. But evil too knows who he is and it uses its servants( and there are a lot of them) to deny him and prevent him from doing it. It is a fight he must win, he has to defeat evil before to reveal himself.

Devorah, God will reveal him to some of us. By the time he figures out what happened, it will be to late. Then he will be concealed for a period, finally to be revealed again. I don't know if his concealment is because the 'rabbi's' are hindering him, or it's possibly because he was revealed prematurely. Also in the Tanach, God does His business before He reveals his representitive.
ReplyDeleteLike in the movie the Matrix, both sides knew to look for him. Neo was obviously not ready for his mission when he was found. I suspect it will be similar to that today.
The bottom line is it is out of our hands now. See the last verse of Ovadiah. It's a clue to how we would know when God would reveal this person. We as a nation will not make tshuvah back to Him.
Per classic judaic sources, Moshiach does not know he is the messiah and his parents do not know, either.
