  4. It doesn't say that one should wash one's clothes on Thursday night - it says on Thursday. This is Mashma daytime - not nighttime. The gemara and Rambam have the same Mashma'ut.

I applaud Rabbi Katz's efforts in going into the Mahloket between the Tur and Rashi about whether the prohibition of work starts from Minha Gedola or Minha Ketana. There does seem to be some Geula connection.

  7. to yaak. takana ezra 5th day, so as not to do it erev shabbos. thus one has essentially all night, and being the mashmaut, to guard from erev shabbos of 6:00 am friday. this pshat was in alignment with the hekesh of the life of the ramban, based on the significance of the geula, as going into the darkness of the night. the night would be a chiddush to wash the clothes as long as before morning. the day time would be just pshita, and need not be mentioned, as the pushut mashmaut.
