As Jews in the UK prepare to begin Tisha B'Av, London burns...
LONDON – Swaths of London became scenes of lawless looting and raging fires Monday as the wave of civil unrest that has gripped this sprawling capital sharply escalated, including fresh riots close to the athletes’ village and shiny new stadiums built for the 2012 Olympic Games.
The images of violence -- with hundreds of youths looting shops, setting businesses ablaze and clashing with police in at least a half-dozen neighborhoods – deeply shocked Londoners, dealing this legendary city an enormously damaging blow less than a year before the start of the Olympics.
Looks like the Jewish community in London is in great danger!

FIRST REPORT 1:00PM EST: As another night of unrest begins in London, the Jewish community is taking precautions to protect their stores from the violent riots.

Police have urged store owners to close their establishments in Stamford Hill (North London) and many store owners have emptied the contents of the stores. In North West London there are threats from riots just outside Golders Green at Brent Cross Shopping Centre, which is just a five minute walk from the main road in the Jewish Community. The area has gone on high alert.
Rabbonim have urged the community not to be around or near the riots even as bystanders. People can still go to Shul but should be cautious and keep away if riots enter the area.
All gas stations in Stamford Hill have been closed, and the Police Emergency number (999) is not being pick up. There is currently a 10 minute waiting time for an operator to take your emergency call.
A total of 215 arrests have been made in the London Riots.
Shomrim of Northwest London tell YWN that their role will be to preserve life and protect humanity only. Shomrim does not & won't provide protection to business premises.

I dare say we have yet to see much more of Europe burn and with hotter infernos too. It cannot just go on as usual when so many Jewish people's blood has een spilled into this segment of the earth.

It sounded insane on the news last night.
ReplyDeleteit is well organised, not because a random black man was shot, and he apparently was dealing with guns. the news says they were using twitter and its well planned. i remember gadaffi said he would do to europe, remember the pan am. they have surrogates everywhere. its awful. demos are one thing but destroying the country that sheltered you is an outragesous thing to do. i hope london now will think a million times before saying or doing anything negative to israel and realise now what is happening to them. one cannot hug your enemy and back stab your friend.

perhaps, just perhaps we overlooked an important detail, (i stand corrected if i am wrong). the timing of the UK intifada. It is just before the sept palestinian one, and cameron should, should realise what israel is undergoing with their "immigrant mus citizens', and should clam up and not comment when israel takes the right action on them. in fact the world should shut up, as in comparison, is israel shows alot more patience and care in avoiding fatalities even at the risk of their own.
