Gilad's Tikkun

Comment by "E.F." on Bat Aliyah's blog:  "Rabbi Nir Ben Artzi Parshat Chaye Sarah 5772":

On October 25, 2011, Rabbi Nir Ben Artzi said: Gilad Shalit doesn't know it, but he enacted a great Tikkun for Yisrael.

On October 18, 2011, the Rabbi said: On the day Gilad Shalit was released, most of the world, and all the Jews in the Land and throughout the world stopped what they were doing and watched on various technologies, in order to see the miraculous account brought about by the King of Kings. Never has there been such an occurrence, that all Am Yisrael was so united... That day was like Yom Kippur, on which all Am Yisrael joined together and prayed to the Holy One that all should unfold in peace, a unique day of the year... Gilad had a mission of five and a half years on behalf of Am Yisrael. The day will come when we will understand this mission.

On the 25th of June 2006, his Israeli Army Unit was attacked by Palestinian terrorists:
2 Soldiers were killed, 3 wounded, and Gilad Shalit was captured.

October 18th 2011, he was released in exchange of over a 1000 Palestinian prisoners.

5 [Years from June 25th 2006 to June 25th 2011] times 365 days = 1825 days
2008 was a leap year, one extra day = 1 day
from June 26th to October 18th 2011 = 115 days
Total of days from Gilad's capture to his return to Israel = 1941 days

Like in Genesis 29:27+28 and other Scriptures, the Bible is counting sometimes one day as one year. If we translate Gilad's 1941 days in captivity to 1941 years, and subtract those 1941 years from his release in October 2011, we arrive at the year 70 CE. That is the very same year when the Roman General Titus destroyed Jerusalem and the Temple, and forced the Jews into captivity.

Is that the mission Gilad Shalit had to fulfill, showing in type the time of the Jews in exile? Rabbi Nir Ben Artzi said he had a mission on behalf of Israel. If this is it, then we know that this is the year when the King of kings will leave the rest of the world and return back to Israel again. The Rabbi has repeatedly said that the time of the exile for the Jews is finished now, this event seems to confirm it.

  2. This is awesome regarding Gilad, but I would be interested to know what the Rav would say about Jonathan Pollard still being held captive. (May HaShem free him now!)

  3. If we translate Gilad's 1941 days in captivity to 1941 years...

...then this also leads back *70 years* to 1941, when America was violated, on the "day that will live in infamy".

The name of the hallowed place of somber memory is as well-known as the name of the harbor, a ship "of state" as it were, the USS Arizona.

Note how much Arizona has been in the news of late (e.g. Palin/immigration/Giffords), and also Hawaii because of the connection to the current POTUS.

A while back I went to the Wikipedia page on Arizona and was struck by 1) the description of the climate/geography, and 2) the unclear etymology of the word Arizona.

There appear to be many layers of allegory in the name and ship and the state itself, being the last of the contiguous states (Feb 14, 1912).

What I mean is, sound out the name and go from there. Arizona, eretz zona, eretz Ziona...

..."is noted for its desert climate, exceptionally hot summers, and mild winters, but it also features pine forests and mountain ranges in the northern high country, with much cooler weather than in the lower deserts."

When Daniel (9.2) referenced the 70 years of captivity he saw "in the books, the number of the years" which according to the word of the L-rd that came to Jeremiah the prophet, must pass before the end of the desolations of Jerusalem - seventy years.

    Jerusalem, i.e. Tzion.

    baspharim mispar (772) hashanim (405) = 1177

"Arizona **is most widely known for her sinking** during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941, with the loss of 1,177 lives."

Gilad was redeemed from captivity after 1941 "days", on the day when the guest of honor is Yosef ( = 156 = Tzion)

"As of 2011[update], 70 years after the explosion that destroyed Arizona, oil leaks from the hull still rise to the surface of the water. Arizona continues to leak about a quart (0.95 L) of oil per day into the harbor."

  4. Anonymous #1: It clearly says in the Rav Fish article "Geula 5772"

"".....In the fourth (5772) plenty but no plenty, (the actual Geula begins according to the Maharal), ......""

Not sure what your reference to the 5,000 shluchim has to do with it anyway.

  6. It is a war memorial/gravesite - with a name sounding much like Eretz Tzion - that has been seeping/weeping oil for 70 years.

    >To this day, oil can still be seen rising from the wreckage to the surface of the water. The oil seeping is sometimes referred to as "the tears of the Arizona"[4][5] or "black tears."[6]<

    (Tehillim 137)

Because the grave is separate from the museum complex - visitors are ferried to the site one small group at a time - it maintains a solemn and somber atmosphere, a respectful rememberence of the departed souls.

The sites of the beginning (for the US) and end of the war (the Japanese surrender was signed on the USS Missouri aka Mighty MO) are located but a stone's throw from each other.

Perhaps this may all seem quite a tenuous connection to Gilad's captivity, release, and tikkun. However, when I saw at his release that he was held for 1941 days, and that this happened in the presence of Yosef, and that this was a highly symbolic event on many levels (esp. relating to geula)... I put it together with these pieces of information collected previously.

Gilad - ambushed, held captive, yet sustained by HaShem and brought back from the "dead".

Yosef - ambushed, held captive, yet sustained by HaShem and brought back from the "dead".

So as with individuals, so as with Eretz Tzion.
