Edan's Got Talent

Piano-playing Edan Pinchot, head adorned with a yarmulke, does an amazing job on America's Got Talent.

It's just nice to see something pristine and happy once in a while. What a sweet boy. I hope he succeeds.

How beautiful- and the most important thing- mentchlekeit!

I hope he always keeps that kippah on, no matter how famous he'll get. But really, what's a nice jewish boy doing in a place like that? Are there no jewish talent shows? If not, they should make one!

Got a love what?? Mixing with the Goyim?? We as Jewish people are not supposed to be like them, with them, etc... This is why we are in Galut!!! After Shabbat, we recite the Havdalah prayer, to seperate Kodesh with Chol, just like we need to seperate ourselves from the Goyim... Mixing and being like them is what got us into the mess that we are in now!!!

I have to agree with Anonymous. We are commanded over and over again not to be like them and not to follow their ways. To see this young kippah-wearing Jew doing his darnedest to emulate some goy singer does not make me happy. If anything this is a chillul Hashem. I hope his next song isn't by Elton John ...

Ok, so i hear you, yet to be a mentch in front of millions is to help dispel many of the myths about Jews. (We are all this way or that way , we are mean, evil nasty and so forth.)
ok, so it's better to sing only yiddish songs and not on unaffiliated networks, yet this is his life and this is how he is growing up and I'm proud of the fact that he is not acting like a brat or worse.

Poor Kid his parents are clearly misguided. I hope he loses actually because winning would Be the worst thing for his ruchniyus.

Nechama: He's not being a mensch he trying to be popular to win a Gentile song contest.Whether he's nice or not or a good Jew has nothing to do with it. I'm disappointed you accept this so easily..He's not promoting Jewish values. Look what happened to Matisyahu. Now he's taken off his kippah and is hanging around with dope smokers... I suppose he's a mensch too?

agreed about matisyahu moriah. amnon yitzchak came out about the new wave post 90's jewish music artists and their faith that is not rooted in kedusha - he was right. they all (mostly) are into shtus, dope, being gay in videos while promoting it as yiddishkeit with streimels and payos [y-love], removal of kippah [ as you mentioned], and basically being a chilul Hashem in the name of fitting into goysha velt and being popular. i think it is very dangerous where this movement has gone. is this kid chayav? probably not, but it represents a tremendously evil presence within the klal.

True, Moriah, I do hear you. I have jumped too soon, perhaps. I was looking at it from the point of view that a Jew walked out on stage and was not dressed in a trashy or showy manner and was polite and did not appear to have that "cool" like manner that is from the goyisheh culture. However, you and others are correct.
Come to think about it, I have seen a particular family in my area who have their girls in dance and the like and they say they must mingle with the outside because we live in a mostly goyish velt and the like- their girls do these dance recitals and I was always disappointed in this, yet never judge them etc.. I was also bothered that they want their kids to davka have goyish friends (the mother said this) whereas I am one to politely turn down a play date because(and I tell me kids) that I don't want the foreign culture and non-kosher etc...to seep in etc....so I wonder what I was thinking when I say this kid? Maybe that he looks so innocent and to see that his head is covered......you are correct, though. Thanks.

My name says Nechama, yet I did not log out of my daughter's account. It's Leah.

Nechama:
First of all the Goyim and I mean all the Goyim in the World hate us..And in the days that we live in now no one respects what a Jew does even if it is a Kiddush Hashem. I am sure that Moriah will agree with me, the only way that the world will respect us is if we keep ourselves seperate, learn Torah, love our fellow Jew, follow the Mitzvot, and do what H-shem our loving father has commanded us to do. If you don't believe me look in the Torah ( a few parashas ago, I forgot which one) where the blessings and curses are listed..

I'm with you Leah/Nechama..... I thought he was cute and a kiddush Hashem.....but after all, Naive is my middle name :)

For annonymous who wrote to Nechama,

I am insulted by your remark regarding Goyim. You stated All Goyim hate Jews, you have hurt my spirit, for I love the Chosen.
Why do you write what you do not know about, there are many of us who do not hate any one, we love the Creator and we are good too. You annoymous are not doing your job as a Jew -to be a light, you are casting dark shadows on the world.
I have not heard this little boy sing or play, I read your remark and I protest against it.
Do not know if my comment will be posted for you to read Annoymous, who ever you be.
But you are one wrong person.

Okay Stella C.. Obviously you are not Jewish or not a Jew that follows the mitzvot. If you are not Jewish, than convert and if not following the mitzvot and studying torah, pirkei avot, etc.. then you should. Than you will see more clear..

there are many rightouse gentiles in the world but proven again and again maybe deep deep down in their souls there is a small amount of resentment that we the Jews are G-ds chosen children...

This Handsome yong lad is sharing his G-d gifted talent with all the world. Spreading a warm light and smile.
This, with his kippa, how could it be anything else then saying: I am a Jew, and proud to share my G-d given talent with you."

G-d bless you sweet lad. :)

Moriah And Annonymous, No I am not a Jew.

But I still say it is not your job to brush all those who are not, with the same black paint brush.

Yes, I do know how much you have suffered at the hands of bad goyim, then again when I have heard some Rabbi's, they have stressed that those who were bad to you, were used by Hashem to bring you back to His path.
Then again, Goyim are blamed for what happens.
Its either Hashem uses the Goyim to help you back to him, or ... Geez this is mind boggling, too confusing.

What about thousands of Goyim who have suffered too, and still suffer?

Whatever, I can assure you I have no notion to do any bad to you the Jews, and Please right now I stand before Hashem, and say to you: I would suffer for you, I am getting bolder, to stand for you all. Stop putting those who care into the same basket of rotten eggs.

I know if I keep up with this what will happen on this blog, is there will pop up a notice:
No more comments.

Whatever, you Moriah and Annon and anyone else who thinks I have some eviland have even small, lurking within me, I do not agree. You do not know what is within my soul or my thoughts.
Then again, who am I, just a goy, Eh? Not good enough to be considered even a human being by a lot of you who think like you Moriah and you anon.

You know what, Hashem will lead me, this I know, for you in the end, special or not, Chosen and beloved of the Creator who also breathed the breath of life in me,is also my G-d.

Amain, and this I believe

People are speaking generally Stella, of course there are nonJews who don't feel that way, but the general point is that at the end of the day, nonJews do not like the Jewish people. Look at Israel... where the world sides with the ''Palestinians'' for no logical reason. You mustn't take this personally, it's a fact of life, you happen to be someone who doesn't fit the mould, but people like you are few and far between, nevertheless we treasure all of you who care about us.

Thanks, Devorah. I hear the other's points and appreciate them and yes I also am glad that he did not act in a way that was offensive and the like. Thanks, Devorah- always. :)

You are kind, Devorah.

Perhaps some writers here should be a bit careful of how the words are used. In English, if one says' All" it means just that 'All'.

Better for me I think to stay off this site, in case I might slightly contaminate it.

Wish you All, All the best , Hashem bless you all.
Am Israel Chai.

Perhaps I was too harsh. I've removed my comment.

I hope you're just being sarcastic, and won't stop reading, you're very welcome here. I think we all have to be more careful with our words, a good lesson for everyone. As my friend Nava used to say: ''If in doubt, leave it out''.

Why is everyone judging him? I thought he was so great! No matter what background anyone has, this is America and everyone has the right to do what makes them( and the world!) happy. I enjoyed his performance and hopes he succeeds in this! He is an amazing singer and deserves a chance to move forward with his talents, Jewish or not!!! Stop judging and let people be themselves. This doesn't mean they stop their beliefs or should be embarrassed or ashamed, he was great and I am behind him 100%.

Seriously? These comments are one of this biggest Chillul Hashem I have seen in awhile. Edon is a wonderful singer, and has shown how he wears his Judiasm proudly despite his surroundings. He may not be the type of Jew I am, but I can appreciate his sacrifice for Judiasm especially at such an impressionable age. Don't allow Sinas Chinam to blind you from the good of another Jew.

The bigotry here is astounding. Claiming that all gentiles hate the Jews is just as bad as claiming that all Jews cheat in business or are miserly or whatever. Call it what it is.
