Feedback Needed [Sticky]

I have removed a popular blog from my Blog Roll because the following content was written, and I believe it to be extremely controversial and dangerous:

The real Messiah is here. He lives in Jerusalem and will be introduced to the world, I believe with all the evidence, by the end of the year 5772 which is imminent.

What do you think?  I really want your comments, as I don't like making these kind of judgments, nevertheless I feel a responsibility to present facts rather than feelings on this important topic.  If Moshiach is not evident by the end of 5772 [two months time], then people's emunah is in danger of being eroded.  It's one thing to speculate, as we all do, but to parade as absolute truth, with no disclaimer or question nor Gadol or source of Torah backing, is damaging and dangerous.  No-one can give a date [or person] and stand by it, that is contrary to all teachings on this subject.

You may immediately think of Rav Fish's constant publicity of 5772 being the time of Moshiach, but that is different, as there are favourable times for Moshiach to come and this year is one of them, but at no time has the blogger publicizing Rav Fish suggested that 5772 is without doubt the year of Moshiach, or said that a particular person IS the Moshiach..... in fact he has always stressed the point that if Moshiach does not come this year, we don't give up hope and we continue to wait every day for the Moshiach that Hashem will choose.

Please leave a comment and let me know your thoughts - be honest but refrain from lashon hara.

  1. I agree with you. Although, I have added the site to my reader just to see what develops over the next few months. Watching with a very cautious eye...

  2. I agree, there is something off by stating as a FACT Moshiach will be here. The blog feels a little off and I would be weary.

  3. i always heard that moshiach comes from tiveria? [rashi in midrash rabbah] what i dont see is how the blogger has a good logical system: belief in a false messiah is eternal suffering. then, his moshiach is here is stated. then if he is not the moshiach [but yet identified as absolute truth] , by definition it is eternal suffering?! the blog scene [myself included] is filled with moshiach torah, but why instilling fear and absolutes? [like devorah said, w/o published backing (listing sources etc) - i think emunah should be earned, not imposed, suggested, or threatened]

  5. Either a blogger presents absolute truth, or not. He can't have it both ways. Truth and sheker cannot go together. Danger!

    first : what if he's right ?...

Second : people and bloggers must understand how much people are getting nervous by seeing that much signs, and by stating that obviously ALL signs and prophecies that are mentioned in sefarim are now ALL fullfiled or currently happen. They need to be released. this world goes really wrong in all manners.

Third: this blogger is one of your brother, so please no lachon ara, and , also, we're in times where we have to stay united, so please , don't remove blogs, but make the effort to Understand.

    thank you

  7. He clearly said on his blog that he is not sure. and if the person he thinks is not Mochiach, he shook a tzadik's hand.
What is wrong with speculating if he says he is not sure?

    1. Yes he clearly said that today, my blog post was based on his original post. So he has back-tracked and given room for doubt, which is good.

  8. I don't know if Moshiach will arrive in 5772 or not, but I found Menachem's post highly encouraging. Perhaps he could have been clearer that it was/is The Absolute Truth that HE believes this to be the case (and he did 'walk it back' a bit in Part II today). If Moshiach is not evident by the end of 5772 [two months time], then my emunah is in no danger of being eroded. But Menachem's post will have provided me with some much needed encouragement in the meantime.

Please let's not overreact and stifle discussion, but hope and pray that he is right with his belief. Thanks for your consideration.

  9. I would like to add to this that over the years people have tried to predict when Moshiach is coming. It is encouraging to read that it is soon. However if we keep thinking it now now now and now turns into years, well then, yes we get disappointed. We start to give up. I beg bloggers to please not promise or speculate to much. It can lead to false hope and jews going off the derech.

    thank you.

  10. The blog clarified that this is his belief, but he was not able to state it as fact.
Also, he clarified that he has met three men, all of whom he considers Tzadikkim worthy to receive the soul of the Moschiach at the appropriate time.
It is a very startling thing to write, but it falls short of saying that Moschiach is here and personally I a happy to continue reading the blog.

  11. I believe that everything that I have said has been taken out of context. These blogs (the ones that you reference to the left) have given me 100 pages of verses from Tenach, Talmud, Zohar, commentary from Gedolim, etc, etc, etc that have said that Moshiach is here and will be announced in 5772. None of this is my opinion, chas vasholom. Did you not believe what has been posted from the Zohar, the Talmud, the Vilna Gaon, the Yalkut Shemoni, Rav Kaduri, Rav Eliyahu (before his passing) the Autistics, Rav Fish, Rav and Rebbetzin Kanievsky, Rav Scheinberg (just before his passing) and many other Gedolim (I apologize for leaving out certain Gedolim)? As I said 100 pages of proof that I have compiled. I am not a prophet, just a compiler. I heard recently that it is an avarah to say that it may not be this year. Why? Because we are the ones who put off the coming of the Geula and Moshiach. I have heard for years when we talk about the events that are supposed to happen before Moshiach "we've seen that before and he hasn't come." A Gadol in Lakewood told me years ago: Hashem says if you are happy not having Moshiach, you will wait longer. Hashem wants us to say "we have had enough of this evil world -- we want Moshiach now (believe the Rambam when he and our sages tell us this). Then Hashem will say: Now you have caught on -- here he is (instantly). If you pay attention to what is supposed to happen before Moshiach comes, you would see that everything has been satisfied. The only event that I am waiting for is, as the Yalkut Shemoni said (and Yoma 10), Edom will attack Pershia (Iran) "IN THE YEAR THAT MOSHIACH WILL COME." That event is imminent and will probably lead to the final battle of Gog UMagog (yes, that is my speculation but based on very obvious events of the day). We are there. How many times have you heard that when all the Jews do teshuvah we will have Moshiach instantly. Our attitude has kept him away. Hashem is now scaring us with weather, allowing terrorist activity (I didn't say causing it), financial problems, allowing war (I didn't say causing it), etc to get us to do teshuvah. When all the Jews look up and say "HELP", that one word will do it and Moshiach will be announced. Hashem wants us to turn to Him even if it is with one word. Not to Obama, Netenyahu, candidates for November's election (which will probably not even happen)-- only Hashem. If people would read my blog about what is really going on -- the obvious signs from Hashem -- they would realize I have made up nothing. I have worked hard for decades to not have an opinion but to read my messages from Hashem and react to His will. If you think that is dangerous then you are part of the problem. I state very clearly when something is the Absolute Truth and when it is my speculation. But never has my speculation been based on anything other than scriptures, words of Gedolim and the events that are happening everyday. By the way, I have been correct many times over the decades in what was about to happen. Open you eyes and see the obvious -- that is what I do. Please join me in bringing Moshiach and saving the world instead of fighting the issue. Hashem knows what He is doing -- I am just trying to follow His lead.

I also saw signs in 5770 but it wasn't until this year that we can say ALL THE SIGNS HAVE HAPPENED OR ARE IMMINENT. That is why I didn't even start my blog until this year (Adar). I forgot to mention that I have over 600 books just in English (hundreds additional in Hebrew such as scriptures) that are very telling of what is happening. The proof is very much encouraging and I repeat it is our attitude that Hashem is watching for it to happen. We are partners in creation. We need to do our job.

Devorah said that stating yuo know who is Moshiach is the problem. How can you tell her she is part of the problem?
And ''please join me in bringing Moshiach''??? Shirat Devorah has been blogging Moshaich for years, and you have chutzpah to tell her that.

    8. "I believe that everything that I have said has been taken out of context' - you caused it by being arrogant in your absolute truth.

"These blogs (the ones that you reference to the left) have given me 100 pages of verses from Tenach, Talmud, Zohar, commentary from Gedolim, etc, etc, etc that have said that Moshiach is here and will be announced in 5772." - you contradict this fact every 2 seconds in your comment. you mean to say that you are a rabbi and can not learn out the sources yourself while you have info that real gedolim dont have?

"None of this is my opinion, chas vasholom." - it sounds like all you do is opinion which by nature is not absolute truth.

As I said 100 pages of proof that I have compiled. - please share the 100 page maifesto

I am not a prophet, just a compiler. - then why speak like a false prophet?

I heard recently that it is an avarah to say that it may not be this year. Why? Because we are the ones who put off the coming of the Geula and Moshiach. - more fearmongering? this is just plain stupid.

A Gadol in Lakewood told me years ago: Hashem says if you are happy not having Moshiach, you will wait longer - you are lying. which gadol?

Hashem wants us to say "we have had enough of this evil world -- we want Moshiach now (believe the Rambam when he and our sages tell us this) - rambam? try chabad.

If you pay attention to what is supposed to happen before Moshiach comes, you would see that everything has been satisfied - according to who? certainly not the gra, ramchal etc.

- if this is your thesis, why not mention it in the original post? y base everything on one random gemara? esp. when you say its a conglomerate.

Hashem is now scaring us with weather, allowing terrorist activity (I didn't say causing it), financial problems, allowing war (I didn't say causing it), etc to get us to do teshuvah. When all the Jews look up and say "HELP", that one word will do it and Moshiach will be announced - sounds like you are scared and now trying to scare.

Not to Obama, Netenyahu, candidates for November's election (which will probably not even happen)-- only Hashem - pay attention to the blogs, no one is turning to obama - who are you talking to/about?

If people would read my blog about what is really going on -- the obvious signs from Hashem -- they would realize I have made up nothing. - i do! and i see you make up everything!

I have worked hard for decades to not have an opinion but to read my messages from Hashem and react to His will - decades in what? - science? you said you got it from blogs, but blogs werent around decades ago.

If you think that is dangerous then you are part of the problem. - we are dangerous for not believing you?

I state very clearly when something is the Absolute Truth and when it is my speculation. - no you dont!

But never has my speculation been based on anything other than scriptures, words of Gedolim and the events that are happening everyday. - but you dont quote it! only bloggers

By the way, I have been correct many times over the decades in what was about to happen - name and prove one! are you a prophet? and what does it matter - if moshiach hasnt come?

Open you eyes and see the obvious -- that is what I do. - thats chachmah of absolute truth! thats what bilam did!

Please join me in bringing Moshiach and saving the world instead of fighting the issue.- one word: no

Hashem knows what He is doing -- I am just trying to follow His lead. - how do you follow his lead, id like to know.

    10. Okay every one I got about half way thru the comments here today I realized what had taken place. And personally I am disgusted. Fact is I do not know Menachem personally, However, I PLAN TOO. I absolutely love this mans creative way of teaching. He is obviously very sincere in his approach to any subject. He stepped out with his insights to share with his brothers and sisters if we do not agree fine but lets not degrade this fine mans hard work. I have seen posts that give the stupid pagans creditability. Now a man who has done considerable research not through paganism of fluff, but through OUR books steps out and say hey I think I might have something. OY Vay lets try to be better. I hope he does know who Moshiach is and I hope HaShem uses Rav Menachen to reveal him too. teach all to stop being so short sighted. Just think if Moshiach has had a true possibility to show up every generation and each time he was about to be revealed this very thing happens. So maybe we should consider all prospects and allow HaShem to prove or disprove all that is true will endure with or without our opinion. Shalom

  12. I remember Nava's blog Dreaming of Mashiah with a title of what tsaddik nistar told that gates are closing by Sivan 5769. I was scared at that time and then I realized that there are true rabbis that I can answer questions. Then I understand that there a lot of disinformation and psychics on the net and I decided to some kind of protect our Jews who are naive that they can do things that will damage them. I posted before , I post now, and I will post my comments either as anon or with my name when it is necessary to stop that nonsense. My dear brothers and sisters when you read something don't believe it find sources and find your local orthodox rabbi and ask questions, we are allowed to ask and that is what judaism means if we don't ask it will be a problem.

  14. I believe that Moshiach is coming sooner rather than later. I pray everyday that he will come THIS year. I am not knowledgeable enough in this area to know how to respond to this particular post other than what I write here, now. Yes, there is much going on, economically, potential war escalating with Iran(they have already been at war with the world for some time now) Europe and China's economy worsening etc....these signs are daily- even if Obama pretends we all need to just go shopping and everything will disappear....
As for Moshiach's arrival? Only Hashem knows. I feel that major events will progress us further toward his arrival...(further unrest in M.E., economy world wide, elections- especially in the USA etc... I also think that those who wish to ignore this blatant fact of us getting closer will ignore and remain closed off.
Will Moshiach arrive this year? I don't know, yet I really really hope so.

  19. Judaism is not a spectator sport. We are the team on the field. If we play together and each does his or her part, we will win (no I am not advocating co-ed teams). If I wanted to get a little deeper with my analogy, I would refer to my military background. If we on this battlefield of life don't work together, we are now talking survival. Working together, as I have said repeatedly on my blog, is doing Hashem's will and helping all my fellow Jews succeed by doing the same. My blog was setup strictly to help others help themselves. The winning formula is Torah. Not just learning it but living it. My life has been tremendously successful and happy; all I ask is don't argue with success, but join me. Hashem's way is "the way." I have been doing Kiruv (outreach) for many years. I have been very successful -- always working with small groups or individuals. I just thought it was time to use the tools that Hashem has provided to reach more people. I thank Hashem for the opportunity to reach out daily to help many more. I feel very gratified at the great amount of Email and comments saying that they are trying to do more. I request that everyone does more for him or herselve and reach out to everyone around them and show them the way -- the Torah way. When I became observant people used to say to me "it looks like you discovered a new way of life." I answered them "No, I discovered life itself." I have over 7 billion people that I am trying to reach. That is why I say I need your help. Even Moshe Rabbenu knew he needed assistance (even though we all know that Hashem is the One Who does it all -- we are only His helpers).
One final thing I wanted to mention. There were many tidbits of information that I got from this blog. I consider Shirat Devorah to be one of the best blogs on the web. I am offended if people think that my blog is strictly my opinion since I always, always ask the question when I need information "What is Hashem's opinion?" Unfortunately, unless I wrote a book everyday to explain my sources of information which is almost completely Jewish scriptures, I would get criticized (and I do -- just look above). The hazard of trying to say a lot in a short space. I do, however, take it as a compliment if someone gives me credit for writing brilliant commentary that I took from the sages. No, I can't take credit, I just happen to be the whipping boy when someone disagrees with the Gadolim or even worse what I took from the words of Hashem. Let's just be nice to each other -- help each other and Moshiach will be here today (now somebody will write me to say "how can you say he will be here today that is not the absolute truth – or is it?)

  21. We are in 3 weeks now between Shiva Asar Be'Tamuz and Tisha B'Av. I can't sleep to make sameh mem happy that he did his job. We have to brake our nature to apologize to each other, even if we think we are right. By this act we will bring nahat ruah to Hakadosh Baruhu and weakened sameh mem. Yehoshua weakend Ayin Mem(from Bil'ams' name) and Mashiah will weaken (lamed kof from Balak' name). This four letters represent Amalek. It is very hard for me to stay back that I said minutes ago that I will stay for Am Israel when I see that somebody is pushing us or statement that looks not right. And I think I am right. But I see it is a mess overhere and I see now that peace between us is more important to bring Mashiah Tsidkeinu with mercy that to prove who said what. Rabbi Katz is a kohen (he represents hesed and we should learn from him) and Menahem is our brother. Dear Menahem, the question I asked you, you don't have to answer. I answered my self that we all one team and working on Mahiah's arrival.
I regret that I spoke lashon hara and I ask every of you to forgive me, every body should do the same, please. We all need Mashiah. We tired, but we have to be strong. Regarding what I said before, we have to follow our orthodox rabbis , not to listen and believe to everybody , always stick with rabbi who can be traced to Rambam. Baruh Hashem we have hahamim to whom we can trust 100%.

  22. I want to say one more thing: In the past I have removed other blogs from the Blog Roll because they claimed a certain person [no longer alive] as the Moshiach.

I feel I need to be consistent and not link to those who identify individuals as Moshiach until He is announced by a Gadol HaDor. It is nothing personal against Absolute Truth, and I respect his right to his opinion[s] and the views of my readers to make their own decisions regarding all of this.

As I said before, I am just confused, and will no doubt remain this way until Moshiach arrives and clears it all up.

    1. It wasn't intended to be a lynching, although it seems to have turned out that way. It's one thing to speculate as a naive blogger, it's another thing to teach Torah and absolute truth and announce that Moshiach is in Yerushalayim - that could be taken as the absolute truth, and major disappointment and disbelief in real Torah learned could result. That is my only point, and I apologise for any other impression that may have been given as a result of all this. As I said the blog has been put back on the Blog Roll as Menachem has now clarified his position in Part 2 of his post.

  24. first off: rav menachem, are you a rabbi with qualifications? (esp. in announcing prophetically that moshiach is here)
    the following perplexed me:

if you dont do co-ed, then why do you cooperate on a women's blog; other big rabbis dont

"My life has been tremendously successful and happy; all I ask is don't argue with success, but join me.", why should we believe blindly in you and join ?that is what yushka did, and you even spoke out against this concept. (which is weird that you are warning people of yushka which seems that that would be a no brainer amongst your crowd, no?)

"I have over 7 billion people that I am trying to reach." are you trying to bring the whole world to torah? that would include over a billion new age avodah zara people - is that where you want to teach torah? the arizal says that is the worst sin you can do!

"I am offended if people think that my blog is strictly my opinion since I always, always ask the question when I need information "What is Hashem's opinion?" how on earth would anyone know Hashem's opinion? real rabbis have been trying to figure this out since adam! are you moshiach?!

"Unfortunately, unless I wrote a book everyday to explain my sources of information which is almost completely Jewish scriptures, I would get criticized (and I do -- just look above)." are you implying that you are using non jewish scriptures too?! i must say some of your quotes and tone resonate quite x-tian!

"I do, however, take it as a compliment if someone gives me credit for writing brilliant commentary that I took from the sages" ...and not give credit to your merit rather than you that Hashem graced you with his infinite wisdom!

"No, I can't take credit, I just happen to be the whipping boy when someone disagrees with the Gadolim or even worse what I took from the words of Hashem." why do you sound bitter over the truth? your readers, myself included just want the absolute truth! king david was called a man of war over the truth of torah! if you have ever been to a yeshiva, you would see that war over truth is the protocol! Hashem says my traits arent like traits of man, a full vessel receives and not an empty one - and not the reverse!

"Let's just be nice to each other -- help each other and Moshiach will be here today (now somebody will write me to say "how can you say he will be here today that is not the absolute truth – or is it?)" what you say is true, chesed is great, but the maharal and king david in tehilim say that all chesed must be granted with emes! your blog is about absolute emes! so i ask, as much as your chesed is admirable, we (i as well) really want the truth! either your truth is off, or its so high i/we cant see it...can you bring it down to earth? if its absolutely true what you say, then it should be able to reach 7 billion people w/o effort. only God knows absolute truth, God could thus enlighten 7 billion strong; we arent God. no offesne, but all i see is your opinion on your blog. i like your opinion too, but i would like it a whole lot better, if the tone was set, that your torah is in fact your opinion, and not the word of God. ty for your time if you found it in your heart to acknowledge one confused anonymous

    1. It is precisely BECAUSE there is excellent info on his site that caution should be taken when predicting dates, such as before the end of the year.

      Delete
    2. I didn't predict a date, I only compiled a tremendous amount of information from the best sources possible starting with Hashem Who has given us so many messages recently that I can't ignore them. The date came from the Zohar, the Talmud, the Vilna Gaon, Rav Keduri and many other legitimate sources. Please request my 100 pages of proof and then decide. I have no opinion on anything -- I am just added 2+2 and came out with an answer (some of you may get the same answer). It says in scriptures when the end is near even a child will be able to figure it out. Well, I am in my second childhood (or third) and I am just relaying a very simple obvious message that Hashem is giving to the world. The problem is there are not too many people who are willing to listen.

    4. all you did was add numbers up, which we can do to prove that in *literary* every year in the past that - THAT - year was the one in which moshiach would come. Do you know why? Because it must be possible for moshiach to come at anytime. If all the Jews 10 years ago decided to keep shabbos, then that means moshiach must have existed in that year, was ready to redeem us all. So same for 5772, you will find numbers to support your claim, but it gives absolutely NO evidence that moshiach is going to come this year. Only that it is possible.

  28. Baruch Hashem we all care so much and are yearning so deeply for Moshiach and for Truth in the world. We need to continue to work together and support each other through these confusing times. We have to daven to really be in alignmnet with Truth so that the yetzer will not come in and cause machloket among us (There is much said about this happening in Kol Ha Tor). We need each other. If the three that he singled out are wrong then it could be that in that moment the Yetzer hara confused him. Lets remember that all of Menachem's seeking of Truth and Torah is to support Am Yisrael, and Chas Vchalila not harm the Am. Yes it is dangerous to make claims about Moshiach, perhaps also speculations as even the most connected cannot make calculations of the sort. **Note that he did say that that when the Neshama comes into the person....meaning that he is not really saying that they are Moshiach....just that they have the potential Kli to be Moshaich. Not sure if this speculation is ok either? Rabbi katz? Perhaps some things that should be kept inside until one sees if they are revealed. Remember we need each other now, lets stay united!!!

Conversely, I prefer misleading reports about Moshiakh to expose themselves because those non-official and inaccurate announcements generate chatter and indicate that indeed Moshiakh's approaching steppes are intensifying like thick thunderbolts of lightning, too. 34. I'm a Noachide and follow many of the Jewish blogs as a way to learn and connect to Hashem's Holy Ones for I feel that every Jew is one of Hashem's Holy Ones. Each blog has a different opinion and I like to weigh out each one. It doesn't mean any one person is in error, simply an opinion from that individual. In this world we live in we are all awaiting Moshiach to be revealed speedily and in our day. I've saved all my favorite blogs and websites, so it doesn't matter to me if a blog has been removed. What's really important is that everyone is united for the ultimate purpose of serving Hashem.

  36. If you were looking for the messiah in a room full of men, he'd be the first person you'd dismiss and the last person you'd think of -similar to prophet Samuel situation. If you walk by the messiah in a mall you wouldn't give him a second look. All the speculation of moschiac candidates is the individual's imagination on what moschiac is like -much like prophet Samuel's (a legitimate prophet of God) imagination. What Hashem told Samuel should make anyone give up and dare not not speculate.

When Hashem is concealing something how can anyone hope to find it ??
This is why speculations of time and candidate is laughable and quite embarrassing !!
Lesson should have been learn't from learned men like rabbi Akiva and bar Kocba fiasco !!

The human mind cannot be blank !
SPECULATIONS/GUESSES are not bad when recognized as SPECULATIONS/GUESSES and kept strictly to oneself.
However SPECULATIONS/GUESSES when publicized can be disastrous for the community (depending on author's status), embarrassment and ridicule for the author !!

    2. That came from a very chushivah Rav at the Bais Medrash Gevohah in Lakewood. It is interesting that if someone isn't familiar with a pusuk or meforshim, he can attribute it to x-tianity. I know it is a lot easier to just call someone a name, even if it is abominable to Hashem, than to check it out. This reminds me of when I was doing Kiruv with members of a Reform Temple and told them something that was in Jewish scriptures (I believe it was talking about life after death). They said to me "that is such a x-tian concept. I guess if you aren't familiar with a Jewish inian, just attribute it to an idolatrous source. Chas v'sholam. I really would appreciate if someone isn't familiar with something I post that they would show me the courtesy and question me on my blog. That is better than Loshan Harah on this blog. 38. One final message from me. I really don't care what people think about me. I have noticed a pattern that those who complain about what I write seem to have not read it. They only think they know. I have been accused of things here that are so contrary to what I said, that I know that they are with personal problems and just looking for someone as a scapegoat to blame. It is interesting that the people who have said kind words give a name. Those who bash me are usually Anonymous. What a coincidence. I know that I am a totally happy person and I feel the pain of those who aren't. They don't get me agree only frustrated if I can't help them. I would like everyone to know that I am actually ecstatic. I never thought I could get this many people talking about and debating the coming of Moshiach. B"H
The most important thing is when they wake up and realize that time is running out. It's not Moshiach, it is their teshuvah, mitzvot, limud HaTorah that they need to be worried about. If I can spark their love of Hashem then they can dislike me all they want. The only problem is I see much anti-Torah rhetoric here. Loshen Harah, being judgmental of a fellow Jew, telling a fellow Jew what he believes rather then reading his words and asking questions. I have been studying Torah for about 64 years and I think I have learned a thing or two about life and what Hashem wants from us. If anyone wants to share experiences and learning, I am available. If an individual wants to violate Torah by acting this way towards another Jew, may Hashem help that person.
I thank Devorah for this opportunity to stir the pot. Only good can come from Jews talking to each other and debating the absolute truth. That is what we do in Yeshivah everyday. Machlokus leads to learning but as long as there is respect for ones learning partner. I hope in the coming days to stir the pot more. I am having a good time but above all I know from the comments and especially the Emails I get that I am making a difference and helping people. I do request that some of the Anonymouses who obviously know much, much more than I, the Gedolim and possibly (in their minds) Hashem, chas v'sholam, that they start their own blog and tell the world how wonderful they are.

I *think* it was in the Sanhedrin Gemara (and I could be wrong on where I learned this in) but I'm fairly certain that even the person destined to be Moshiach does not know he is Moshiach until Hashem lets him know. So not only is it impossible for us to know but NO ONE will know until Hashem says so.

So really, stop making assumptions on who is Moshiach, even Rav Akiva was absolutely certain that in his time a certain man was moshiach but was absolutely wrong.(As another poster said)

  42. Why is Absolute Truth 613 Not An Acceptable Source of Torah Information? PART 1

    Dear Devorah:

My comment here requires two little boxes to explain. I hope it's okay to use two of them, but I do think this comment needs full explication.

I read with some interest the posts about Moshiach on Absolute Truth 613, and find them completely silly. Responding to all the fallacious comments there would be boring to anyone but me. But I think there is an important question hidden in plain sight here that should be asked and answered.

The actual name of the blog gives away this problem. What is "absolute truth?" It means it cannot be wrong. For example, in Catholicism, the pope has a "legal" right to say "in this I am infalible," meaning 'you have to believe me because... you have to believe me.'

Absolute Truth in our world is only the Torah. This is the only absolute truth that exists. And yet since the Torah is beyond the human mind, we cannot understand all its ways perfectly as human beings. If a person says: "May a Jew eat pork?" the obvious answer is "no." But if they are dying and pork is the only medicine that will save their life? Halachically, they MUST eat pork. So what is the absolute answer to the question "May a Jew eat pork?" The absolute answer is that it depends on the specific case.

The problem with this blog and those like it is that they imply that THEY know the absolute truth, which only G-d knows, and shared only with Moshe Rabbeinu, OH"S. What this means is that Mr. Absolute Truth thinks he is actually Moshe Rabbeinu, and is still sitting in the desert talking to G-d.

He is mistaken. One of the principals of faith of the Rambam is: "I believe with perfect faith that the prophecy of Moses is absolutely true. He was the chief of all prophets, both before and after Him." This is the ONLY absolute truth, and the one who can understand it completely is either Moshe or one of his top students and if a top student simply has the closest possible understanding of this truth in an indirect sense. There will never be another Moses, or another Torah. This is another principal of our faith. So Mr. Absolute Truth, I am sorry, but I must respectfully disagree with your entire blog. You are not speaking absolute truth at all.

If this were what he was, he would not be saying "I know this, and I know that." He would be saying "In Bereishis x:y, it says this. And in the peirush [commentaries] of so-and-so, it says that."

So what this author is saying is: "You can only understand Torah that I tell you." This makes him a surrogate for Moshe Rabbeinu, which is incorrect.

Here is a simple example. I have reviewed his source list. Not once in all these sources does he mention a true Torah rayah [proof]. It does not say - "The Torah says this," or "the Talmud says that." He quotes indirect sources, most of whom do not show their sources. Quoting any modern rabbis is not a Torah rayah. Torah is a formal discipline, with rules a Gadol Ha'Dor follows. He does not even know these rules, never mind follow them. For instance, Gedolei Ha'Dor will shake the hand of any Jew. You do not have to even have a beard.

Yet Mr. Absolute Truth thinks the Gedolei Ha'Dor shook his hand because his beard is really long? How does that work exactly? Please show me in the Torah where a man's righteousness or merit is determined by how long his beard is. Interestingly, hair grows even after death. So a corpse can be a very meritorious live person according to Mr. Absolute Truth. "Hey, did you see that corpse's beard? I MUST shake its hand!"

  43. I decided this time to leave blogs forever B'H", because I always said that a lot of disinformation, psychics and damages through it. I understood that it is impossible to fight over the net, because it is not real. Today one is open one blog, tomorrow he will be under different one. I decided myself not to spend my energy to prove to those who are far a way with hiding their faces and writing whatever they want. My last suggestions to all Jews: "Shield your eyes" and stick with real people, with real rabbis, don't take that negativity upon yourself. It is not our purpose and we have to guard or neshama. Our mission is very important, not to fell down and get Olam Haba. Our hahamim were right about Asifa and danger of the internet. I believe that very soon it will be no connection at all to the internet, because of the power of words of our hahamim. We can not fight something that is not here. I decided to learn more Torah and do mitsvot instead of writing in blogs. I wish you good luck my dear Jews, hopefully we see each other in the World to Come.

  44. Why is Absolute Truth 613 Not an Acceptable Source of Torah Information? PART 2

Another example: in his list of proofs that he is right is a list he calls "Moshiach Rumors." So is the absolute truth that Moshiach is coming? Or is the absolute truth that there are rumors he is coming? Hmm... I am not convinced we can know the absolute truth based on rumors, myself.

Now here is a simple way to show this. In his blog he comments: "I heard recently that it is an avarah (a sin) to say that it may not be this year. Why? Because we are the ones who put off the coming of the Geula and Moshiach."

If he would like to disprove my comments here, there is a simple way to do so.

Mr. Absolute Truth, please explain what an aveirah (sin) means? And if so, how is it an aveirah to say "it may not be this year?" If you can prove this, I will eat my hat. On YouTube.

Why does this all matter at all? It's not his "calculations" about Moshiach that are the real problem. This IS a problem. He did not say "I think Moshiach is coming." He said "I shook his hand." Ok, so what's his name? Who is he? If he is revealed, there is no need for secrecy. If I know the best car in the world, I will tell you what it is. If I say "I know the best car, but I won't tell you," you can bet I am lying to you. And if Moshiach is coming this year, how did he already shake his hand? It is not yet revealed, nu?

But the bigger problem is this: Torah is Emes. Emes means truth or reality. He claims to be the voice of Emes. Yet he does not follow the system of Torah or even know it (Mr. Absolute Truth, Tanach is pronounced TANACH, not TENACH).

If we claim something is true and it is not, this is called LYING. A person who lies is not a really high-quality human being. But if I lie over a parking ticket, this really doesn't affect you very much. But if I say: "The Torah says X," and I am lying, I am distorting G-d's word. This is unacceptable and is a Chillul H', a desecration of G-d's name. This is absolutely unacceptable for any Jew, and makes this series of comments a serious problem.

I hope that this is a clear series of objections. If Mr. Absolute Truth feels he is NOT desecrating G-d's name in his posts, I am sure he has a simple answer he can give me to explain how he is able to tell us the absolute truth on any matter that is not pshat Torah.

It is the absolute truth that the Torah starts with: "Berieshis." What this means is anything but clear. He is making a series of over-the-top claims that simply cannot hold up.

So either he is simply unaware that he is lying and calling it Torah, or he is aware he is doing so and feels he profits from this process. May I ask which it is?

  47. 72 RESPONSES and the DAY IS NOT OVER YET!! Devorah you must be exhausted. The 3 days prophesy is from Sefer Hoshea 6:2. "After 2 days he will resuscitate us and on the third day he will establish us." It has often G-d forbid been misused by the worshipers of the man-god to talk about his resurrection after two days when the prophesy clearly states that G-d will resuscitate all of us. We ourselves say it twice a day in the private repetition of Modim Anachnu lach aka. Modim D'Rabbanan. According to most mephorshim it refers two 2000 years of galut that is the days being referred to here refer to 1000 years each. The first Temple stood fallow for 70 years, and now the 2nd Temple as of the year 2000 has stood fallow for 1930 years. So we have met the b'itah terms of how long the Temple would lie fallow. We are now in the 3rd day. G-d forbid that this famous prophesy of Hoshea continue to be misinterpreted.

  48. @ Anonymous - judge favorably means to assume he is a nice guy. It does not mean to accept what he says in Torah at face value. I am not suggesting anything that would not happen in any Torah debate. We must all have sources and justify our Torah positions. That is the same if we are best friends or opponents in debate. In fact, the most heated debates in Torah are usually the closest friends. So I do not have a chiyuv (obligation) to believe what someone says b/c I should judge them favorably. Judging them favorably means to assume their intentions are good. I am assuming that. If I thought he was doing this deliberately, my tone would be decidedly different. Calling these comments silly is giving him the benefit of the doubt.

  49. Let's clarify issues. The Ge'ulah coming is not the issue. We all know it is. The gedolei ha'dor have said this for more than 100 years. No-one on this page, and probably few people in our world, doubt it is. The issue to most is "does Absolute Truth know who Moshiach is?" But to be clear, that is not MY issue. My issue is: "Do any of us -ANY of us - have the 'absolute truth'?" The issue to me is not about Moshiach. It is about Torah. Torah is Emes. My voice is not the voice of the Torah. Nor is his. Who claims to be the voice of the Torah and justifies this with rumor and conjecture? The issue to me is: "What is EMES?" If Emes is not Emes, then we are not speaking about Torah, Moshiach or G-d at all. We need to clarify our issues here. The fundamentals are where this is problematic. It reaches a faulty conclusion because it has a faulty premise. Sorry, this is not personal: it is logic, and it is about the Emes of Torah.

  50. Devorah, why not put a disclaimer on posts discussing sensitive topics. Protect yourself. You try very hard to present a nice blog.

It appears that some of your readers need to strengthen their emuna and bitachon in G-d. Perhaps remind them now and then. Maybe that would clear the air when it gets theoretically misty. All this talk about the Geula is just that, TALK, pure speculation, even with sources. HaShem is the ikkar, the main thing. When we stray too far left or right from the ikkar we can become off balance. I hope you receive this in the sincere manner it is intended. (ps I agree that YAAK has one of the best blogs)

    1. I dont see that emunah is the problem here. We all believe, or we wouldn't be reading/writing Geula blogs. The overwhelming response to all this proves the point that everyone is passionate in their views.
The other main point is that bloggers need to show sources when quoting Torah, which would negate the need to question, or at the least provide the answers in their comments section when questioned on a source, leaving no room for doubt. If I could have received these answers on Menachem's blog there would have been no need for this post.

    2. He did give his email address to anyone who wants the sources he has... I asked for them he sent them. He said many times it would be like writing a book to post them all. So email him and he will send them... I believe he posted his email on here as well. Devorah you are precious and I know you meant well. But this has become a circus. Most of the ones who condemn him didn't read his blog and they condemn the name of his blog. I believe there are absolutes, death and life are absolute. With a world so messed up we need absolutes,Facts, truths, HONEST OPINIONS... which is how he offered up this Moshiach post. Right and wrong is so blurred we have presidents who say I DID NOT HAVE SEX WITH THAT WOMAN, IT ALL DEPENDS ON YOUR DEFINITION OF WHAT 'IS', is. THIS IS NOT A 'TAX', AND OTHERS LIE AND SAY ITS OKAY IF YOUR PERVERTED YOU WERE BORN THAT WAY, IF ANY TIME IN HISTORY THE WORLD NEEDS MOSHIACH ITS TODAY. Speculation is good it keeps us looking and hoping and keeps us getting ready to be prepared. If people only are looking and not preparing or are preparing in a false way. YES they may give up, but really were they sincere from the onset. Makes ya wonder. I have seen many people decide on a dime they were going to do teshuvah change it all up and when things like prosperity, and blessings they thought should have come their way did not, they gave up and fell back into their worldly cares. So at the end of the day the ones who are true will stand and those who are not will fall back. Nothing this Rav says is going to change this nor put them in danger... People have to sincerely seek HaShem with a whole heart... only those people will get the full blessing of Moshiach anyways. HaShem is our G-d and our salvation he is the one who will bring Moshiach and direct Moshiach if we do not have HaShem for most in our minds and hearts as KING he will not set an earthly KINDOM UP. END, PERIOD.

  51. i know everyone is debating, but we must be careful to withhold peace. Sholom/achdus means so much to Hakodosh Boruch Hu - in 'Sota' G-d is willing to have His Name erased for the sake of peace. So surely WE have to tread carefully. In my humble opinion I do not think someone should be boycotted just because they have voiced their thought-which people do not have to drink up as truth. he has a blog and he wrote his opinion. he did not say 'i am for sure right', and he was careful not to name the person. If anybody disagree's they can talk it through without scorning or thinking less of the person. Our beautiful Torah teaches us to dislike the wrongdoing/sin and not the person. So if someone seems to slip up/do something against what you think is right, talk it through and forgive-and remain friends. when i would work in a kindergarten i would get the 3 year old boys who were fighting to shake hands and hug eachother and apologize. Adults are no different. except perhaps less forgiving. he has a lot to offer, and is only human, and did try to reblog to calm people down, and people should use their own da'as to decide what is true to accept, and what to put aside. Remember, the chofetz chaim says shmiras haloshon applies to writing as well as saying words. as a human being, a jew, and someone people benefitted good from, give him a chance to defend himself and be dan lekaf zechus. and I'm sure I read on another blog who expressed thoughts of Rav Shalom Aruch being moshiach. If someone meets the requirements why not suspect? As the annointing has not yet taken place, like Rabbi akiva thought, he could be. and what does it matter anyway!? when the truth comes out it will speak for itself who the correct moshiach is?

Perhaps you're right, but I take advice from several rabbis regarding certain issues, and follow it, and this was one occasion where questions were being asked and answers not being received, so it was worthwhile to ask them publicly. Everyone can make up their own minds and come to their own conclusions with all the facts presented. If people comment on my own blog and tell me I'm out of line, I take it on board and re-think whatever I may have written, sometimes deleting posts if necessary.

    2. A man went about the community telling malicious lies about the rabbi. Later, he realized the wrong he had done, and began to feel remorse. He went to the rabbi and begged his forgiveness, saying he would do anything he could to make amends. The rabbi told the man, "Take a feather pillow, cut it open, and scatter the feathers to the winds." The man thought this was a strange request, but it was a simple enough task, and he did it gladly. When he returned to tell the rabbi that he had done it, the rabbi said, "Now, go and gather the feathers. Because you can no more make amends for the damage your words have done than you can recollect the feathers."

    3. the reality is that - if you *knew* that this would cause this much argument, you should not have posted asking the question and simply removed the link if you were not comfortable having it yourself.

Anyone who read his blog was already familiar with it's location.

If you didn't know that this would spark such a debate then now you know for the future :)

  55. So what speculation! All this years all of us were speculating about coming of mashiach, and look where we are. We more and more close and ready to geulah. the whole world is ready to meet mashiach. More and more jews are making teshuva. I think it's a part of reality. And we change the reality.
    Sorry for my english. elana.

  56. it should be noted that menachem does not allow for critical questions on his blog; he neither posts inquiries nor answers difficulties. it seems going public on core dodgy issues was the bed he made. i know several people that had questions for him, quietly...that went absolutely unanswered and unacknowledged.

    1. So, you assume that someone is being *dodgy* because they're not replying? Maybe someone is busy in real life? Maybe they have things that are occupying them and have no spare time to answer every query and email. Why are people so narrow minded that you have to JUMP to negative conclusions instead of giving them the BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT??

  57. I definitely agree that this was blown completely out of proportion. Apologies are due to the blogger. I think the owner of this blog, Devorah should go out of her way to do so, the same way she went ahead with this *sticky* post. And not a moment too soon. You have power with the word, do NOT abuse it.

  60. I don't intend to abuse it, I just want answers. And yes I apologise to Menachem for any negativity published here by any commenter including myself. Just as I have power with words, so does he, and that is the whole point of this post. We have to stand by what we write, as thousands are reading it. I believe Menachem to have good intentions but I also have a responsibility to be credible and publish comments requiring clarification, whether they are against me or not. If I would ever say that I met Moshiach, I must also expect and answer questions on that, not avoid sticky comments.....That is the absolute truth.

  61. 2 questions: do "we" believe moshiach is ready to come? and if so why not demand it in our hearts to Hashem - and talk about it in the positive objective secheldic sense? no guarantees or predictions - how about working on it as a group? the chafetz chaim and gaon of vilna say biat mashiach is here; came along with minha gedola - and that if we ponder it, we can connect to it in a real way. rav fish posted this article in the name of rabbi shmuel eliyahu. if everyone is this emotional about a prediction that now is the time, it must be assumed that we think there is something to 5772. so go find your guy! if he exists, he exists, time is running out, and i would only assume he knows that.the zohar predicted 5772, with an extension of 5773. why not work together and provide some tikkun to this tohu?

    1. According to the Arizal haKodesh and a parsha sheet with a chart provided to me by Rav Pinchus Winston, the time of tohu in the year in which the Geulah really commences, 5772?, is during the first nine days of Av. It is actually on the chart, "the period of tohu". The last few days of Tamuz are the period of "shevirat hakeilim" from Ma'aseh Bereishit itself and provide a hint about a similar process possibly this year, 5772. just thought that I would provide this extra note to an already full comment section. Sorry for the extra work, Devorah.

  62. How many Jews are there in the world?? THAT'S how many meshicim there are SUPPOSED to be. So when one is anointed, all the rest are FALSE???? This diatribe against Rav Menachem is only this- "Baseless intramural hatred." Check the date today, people.

I NEVER COMMENT ON BLOGS; but, I must stand up for this man Menachem,

As the Nekuda of Moshiach, which is the Nekuda of Pnimius Atik (Ein Sof sh"b Radla), is in the Yehida of Every Jewish man and woman.

    Say Yechi, Charley!

So in the time of redemption, the Yechida of a precious few is awaken, and that person perceives Moshiach in him or her self, and hence in the world.

In redemption "beita" more people gain this consciousness, and by uniting in a web of networks, and revealing the wellsprings of kabbalah and chassidus, bring this consciousness to the world

At some critical point, as the network reaches a level (as hinted by the Rebbe that "Moshiach is received by 1, 2, 3 people...) - "Achishena" kicks in, with the beginning of revelation of the miraculous dimension within the physical dimensions of Time and Space.

With the coming of Moshiach ben Dovid, teichef umiyad MMSh.

I just want to say that I believe you are 100% right for what you did here and I stand behind you. When I first read the article on his blog I felt a very uncomfortable feeling. He can retract from today until tomorrow but I believe that he went way over the line and I am afraid for the gullible naive people that read his blog and may chas vesholem lose their Emunah because of him. Im proud of your bravery to take a stand about this for the sake of Hashem. All bloggers should learn from you what it means to take responsibility for the content of their blogs. Its a huge resonsibility that most bloggers do not comprehend.

  66. I see this as huge chutzpah! All the "geula bloggers" do the same thing. I have read posts on Shirat Devorah, Tomer Devorah, Yeranen Yaakov, Lazer Brody, etc... that have raised red flags. I think that you guys are persecuting this absolute truth guy to make yourselves feel better.

  67. Without relying on raw emotion............where is HASHEM'S Mashiach in all of this ?

Is it a case of Mashiach or rather that someone shook his hand ?
If so, then the act of hand shaking is more important than Mashiach rendering the whole statement down to "self importance" and pumping up one's "own credibility" by belief that one is in the inner circle and has inside information.

So on the one hand, the statement is rendered quite physical by the action of a handshake. However, the "get out" clause is then to assert the spiritualizing of the issue by saying that this "person" has not yet received his mashiach neshama .......yet. So this potential mashiach does not know and yet the asserter implies that somehow at the least he knows or suspects. The desired effect is to accept all the accolades if the potential mashiach turns out to be the real deal but if it goes pear shape then the get out "spiritual" clause is put on the table.

So, the bet is 50-50. Hedging each way, I believe is not the way of Torah.
    How so ?

The first Mashiach in the Torah was Aharon Cohen Ha Gadol. He was anointed by Moshe Rabbeinu, the greatest Navi who ever lived. Shemen Ha Mishkah was poured by the Navi, in this case by Moshe over Aharon until he was totally saturated.

The first Melech Yisrael, Shaul was anointed by Shmuel Ha Navi by a cruze of Sheman Ha Mishkah.
The second Melech Yisrael, David was anointed by Shmuel Ha Navi by a horn of Sheman Ha Mishkah signifying the eternal duration of the Davidic Kingdom.

According to the Tanach in Sefer Malachi, HaShem will send Eliyahu Ha Navi before the Yom Ha Din to clear the way for HaShem's Mashiach who will sit to refine and purify all especially the Leviim.

The pattern is quite clear. Navi +Shemen Ha Mishkah = HaShem's Mashiach. The Shemen Ha Mishkah is an eternal mitzvah. It was used to anoint the Melechim Yisrael and will be used to anoint Mashiach Ha Melech.

No handshakes, no wishful thinking, no emotional desire and no 50-50 bets. Thus human yearning in good faith, even though, is still human yearning and susceptible to failure.
When HASHEM'S Mashiach comes.........the whole world will know without doubt.
Eliyahu Ha Navi, Oh Eliyahu Ha Navi where forth art thou ???

    Joe
