The Pesach Moon

First night Pesach, the moon was incredible. It was a cloudy night and as the clouds went past the moon they lit up in a giant halo of blue, orange and yellow.

I had a feeling there was going to be an amazing moon so I lined up a non-Jewish friend to take photos .... but they do not do it justice. A better photo can be found here at Flickr - I truly have never seen anything like it - I wish I had a video to show you but these photos are all I have, or have found on the internet. Seems like no-one else noticed the light show except the people at my Seder and my friend [and the lone photographer at Flickr]. Click on the Flickr photo to enlarge it.  The colours in the photos really do not reflect the reality of the sight - there are no words !

Devorah, I sure agree that those photos don't compare to the reality!
Tonight, motzei yom-tov, night of the second day in the Diaspora, I looked to see what you were telling us about. The moon sure looked beautiful with the outer lines of the clouds a gorgeous orange and blue hue. It looked resplendent, as bright and gleaming as the Cup of Eliyohu Ha'Navion our Seder table:) I could have gazed all night at the beauty of Hashem's creation but a friend reminded me that it is not permitted to stare at the moon too long. Do you know the reason for this?

Not sure if this is what you mean, but at SpaceWeather, they featured the moon, as well. Apparently it was a 'micro-moon'... and here's the picture: http://www.spaceweather.com/images2016/23apr16/Marek-Nikodem-DSC_2287_1461390895.jpg?PHPSESSID=klbnhm2hcaootpmlvn60hmq8b3

Hey,
We just left the Seder to walk home here in Israel and our friends pointed us to the beauty of hello around the moon.
It was Shabbat, so no pictures, but I hear you!

No, nothing like that. It was the colours in the halo around the moon which we could see because of the moving clouds.

Philip Baram: When you say that in ancient times
'we worshipped constellations'. Whom do you mean?
The Jewish people never worshipped constellations; in other words, were absolutely prohibited from doing so. The nations did and that was their horrendous sin. When the Jews, at times, tried to emulate the others and assimilate, we were severely punished for it. Just trying to clarify.

Anonymous, right on.
Avodat kochavim was the start of the avodat zara of the "wise" people of the generation of Enosh.
That's why Hashem commandet Jewish men to put Tefilim and connect their knowledge with their heart, to not to fall in the "wisdom" of the goyim again, like we did in mitzrayim!!!!lucky us, Hashem got mercy on His children and send Moshe to save us!!! !!! !!! !!! !
In the Creation process, there was created also vacated space, and is up to us, the Jews, not to fall in it!!!
Its the space of the "wise" goyim, that try to suck us up and steal the LIGHT OF THE ONLY TRUTH AND ONLY WISDOM, THE TORAH!
Guess what, not going to happen!
You can stand upside down and pretend to be angels, and still, Hashem loves us truly to protect and save us from this sticky dirt!
No avoda zara for a child of Hashem!
Soon, any moment, Mashiah ben Yosef, will make end to this!!!
No avoda zara for the land of Hashem!
The Creation will be pure again to serve Hashem alone, amen!
