How to help kids with ADD and ADHD

I have a son who used to have ADHD, so whenever I heard a rabbi speaking about this topic, I tuned in.  However, to date, not one of these rabbis has ever had anything sensible to say about it, and to my horror some have even made fun of the problem, or denied that it even exists !  Finally Rabbi Alon Anava has once again come to the rescue.  He explains the spiritual reason, according to Kabbalah, although as he points out, if you want to really understand the process you would need to spend three years in a Yeshiva - but he does give us some great insights.  This is really something to think about, and if you are one of those people who ridicules the very real problem that exists, think again.

  2. Yes, you are right.. many rabbis and i too have heard some. some who have made a 'great' name for themselves, and it was sickening to hear them.

I like your picture of Rabbi Kook and his saying.. i believe that..: "Before the world of truth can come, the world of lies must disappear".
So true.. and so much and so many are today being exposed of their lies and hypocrisy. Thank you Hashem!

  3. Exactly, we need to look deeper, both spiritually and physically. Make sure we are good examples for our kids. Give them good Nutrition so they can do well. Plus, Sleep and Exercise. So much healthier than medicine that has side effects. While med is good for some things, this can be taken care better naturally.

    1. But more than that, to know the spiritual reason why some kids have ADD is to change the way you look at this. Instead of thinking that you are some kind of parental failure, you can appreciate that your child is actually very special.
