  5. Can't wait to hear what R' Kessin has to say about this. He has always seen Trump as the redeemer of Edom.

  6. Devorah, I'm not feeling so euphoric about the whole thing.

While it is difficult to describe how good it is to hear the President of the United States recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital, I also heard him say, about 39 minutes in: "Jerusalem is today, and must remain, a place where Jews pray at the Western Wall, where Christians walk the stations of the cross, and where Muslims worship at al-Aksa mosque."

I took a few minutes to transcribe this bit word for word because I feel it is the heart of the speech. I fervently wish the bubble didn't have to be burst...but there you have it, from Donald Trump's mouth.

Do you see anything missing here?

Here's what I see, as of now: Not only did HaKadosh Baruch Hu give us the site of Har haBayit, but DAVID HAMELEKH bought the site with gold - not with the currency of today which, by comparison, means nothing. Not for himself, but for the entire Jewish nation: he, through whom Mashiah comes. Am I crazy or did I just hear US President Trump aid and abet the theft of the heart of our holy city, the threshing floor bought and paid for in the transaction with Arauna in Shmuel Bet 24:24-25, by the enemy that wants to do away with us, while recognizing the rest as ours? And "must remain" means that this must not be the way to geula. I don't know about you, but I feel that a vicious sting came with the honey. A wrong turn has been taken and we are backed into a corner.

I'm sure HQB"H has our best at heart and in mind. This moment is indeed an opportunity for us Jews, whether in Israel or in Diaspora, to assert ourselves as He would desire.

May He bless His people with redemption, peace and our inheritance from Him.

  7. I hear what you're saying CDG, but Trump is just stating the status quo at the moment. He can't declare things any other way really.... this is just the start. Wait and see. I am waiting for Rabbi Kessin to explain it all to us, with his insights.... and hopefully he will do so very soon.

  8. Reply to Michael Margolis.

    Read "The Third Beis HaMikdosh":
    https://www.sefaria.org/sheets/81639

In addition, Rebbe Shimon bar Yochai writes the following:
"Rav Yosef asked, ‘Are the Messianic times and the Resurrection of the Dead one and the same?’ Rav Nachman told him, ‘No. For we learn that the [rebuilding of the] Beis HaMikdash precedes the Ingathering of Exiles. The Ingathering of Exiles precedes the Resurrection of the Dead. The Resurrection of the Dead is the last of all of them’” [Zohar volume 1, Toldos, page 140a (http://bit.ly/2BHaqff) ‘אָמַר רַב יוֹסֵף וכִי יְמוֹת הַמָּשִׁיחַ וּתְחִיַּית הַמֵּתִים לַאו חַד הוּא’].

Here’s a summary of the order of how Final Redemption will take place:
    1) Rebuilding of the Beis HaMikdosh,

    2) Ingathering of the exiles,

    3) The Resurrection of the Dead.

The question is, where do we learn this out from? It’s written, “The Builder of Yerushalayim is Hashem; the outcast of Israel He will gather in. He is the Healer of the brokenhearted and the One Who binds up their sorrows” (Tehillim 147:2-3). ‘Resurrection of the Dead’ is referenced to ‘He heals the broken hearts’ of the dead. ‘The Builder of Yerushalayim’ is mentioned first, followed by ‘the outcast of Israel He will gather in’ and concludes with ‘He is the Healer of the brokenhearted’ (http://bit.ly/2BHaqff).

  9. I hate to be the party pooper, but Trump's words are -- a symbolic gesture, at best.

Understand how geopolitics works. It's not a case of: "You get a state, and you get a state, and you get a state, and everyone gets a state!" HaShem isn't Oprah; self-determination/national liberation plays out entirely as a case of might makes right. Trump can say whatever he wants and move the *American* embassy all he wants, but if Klal Yisrael can't defend its claim to Yerushalayim from the *rest of the international community* then a single country backing them barely matters at all. Besides, who is to say the guy who comes after Trump isn't going to just move the embassy back to Tel Aviv in order to appease the Arab states (take into account Saudi Arabia came out against Trump's decision)? The US is losing a large amount of its political influence on the rest of the world (even Israel is making new friends in China and India) and it's doubtful that it will remain an empire in the next 15 or so years.

I also think it's very telling of the Arab psyche how despite a literal genocide in Yemen, drone strikes in Afghanistan, atrocities in Syria, France invading central Africa, etc. the biggest thing which gets them riled up is Yerushalayim. Hmmmmmm. Principles, principles.

  10. This is how I see it: Trump is just doing what Hashem wants him to do. I see it as a step forward, in spite of all the negativity... remember the prediction for the End of Days.... Gog u Magog.... the 70 Nations of the world against Israel. The declaration by Trump seems to have accelerated things, that's all.

  11. I also agree with Devorah @ 11:22 am. We do not read into every word that a president says like, l'havdil, we would our great Sages where every word was based in holiness. What Pres. Trump did is a great thing, sort of like Koresh, melech Paras. The main thing here is that he brought it out into the open for the whole world to finally realize that Yerushalayim is the holiest city in the world and is truly the capital of Eretz Yisrael - Hashem's Abode on earth, and for that he has a big zchut and this clarifies to all that the Geulah has really started and this is just the beginning. May H' bless us that we all merit to see the coming of Moshiach Tzdkeinu in a blink of an eye b'rachamim rabim.

  12. EW said:
It's not for Israel's good that a leader of another nation acknowledges Jerusalem is the capital of Israel. It has always been the capital whether people acknowledge it or not. It's really for the sake of other nations, that they should do teshuva and come out of their denial.
Don't thank Trump for the recognition. Rather, wish him a mazel tov, cause he just started to lead the world out of denial. As it only takes one loud voice singing through the darkness of night, and before you realize it, there will be more than just one voice singing along. And then the day will break. Moshiach will come. And the whole world will live in peace. What a beautiful early Hanukkah gift.

  15. I agree with both anonymous's posts right above here. My son and I were speaking about it and his opinion is does it really matter what anyone else says etc...
On the other hand, well, yes. Sort of....
He brought it to the forefront as a statement and action that Yerushalayim is not going away and yes, Yerushalayim is key etc...
The list goes on and the perspectives are too numerous to list here.
The bottom line: The redemption process has always been present, just now I believe as Rabbi Kessin has stated, it's accelerating and what Trump has done, in my opinion, is bring it front and center to the world's sight.
For this I am grateful and may we see the ultimate redemption Now!!!!

  16. To Anon EW - Of course, it should have been made clear from the very moment of the rebirth of Israel, almost 70 years ago, by the leaders then that Yerushalayim is was and will always be the capital of E. Y. and should have given the true history of our people and the Torah as evidence, but those that led and lead up until today were and are leftists and didn't want to upset the applecart, so nothing more, r'l, should have been expected from them. We all know that. But, it is a kiddush H' that the leader of the power of the world in these times has shown to the world that Yerushalayim was and is the capital of E. Y. (now, as the world sees it, the State of Israel). This has much meaning and should make every Jew proud and realize the awesome times we are living in, making it easier and clearer for the world to know we are at the doorsteps of the Redemption, the Geulah Shleimah!

  17. And he's blown my mind again with his speech at this early Chanukah party.... watch here
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yhwNUg-uJSA

At the end of the video, Trump's Jewish grandchildren light the menorah, while Jared mouths the words to Ma'otzur.
