ReplyDeleteI am in agreement with the general point but I remember hearing that the Gaon said that when Russia enters Constantinople (Istanbul?) one should put on Shabbat Clothing.

ReplyDeleteShuey: yes you are correct, Turkey is also mentioned, but at this stage we are just concentrating on the Dardanelles. Who knows... Turkey may well become involved at some stage, and G-d only knows who else.
