Mashiach Facts

When Will the Mashiach Come?

There is a wide variety of opinions on the subject of when the Mashiach will come.  Some of the Jews' greatest minds have cursed those who try to predict the time of the Mashiach's coming, because errors in such predictions could cause people to lose faith in the messianic idea or in the Torah itself.  This actually happened in the 17th century, when Shabbtai Tzvi claimed to be the Mashiach; when Tzvi converted to Islam under threat of death, many Jews converted with him.  Nevertheless, this "prohibition" has not stopped anybody from speculating about the time when the Mashiach will come (including some who themselves spoke harshly of those who engaged in such vain efforts!).

Although some scholars believed that God has set aside a specific date for the coming of the Mashiach, most authorities suggest that the conduct of mankind will determine the time of the Mashiach's coming.  In general, it is believed that the Mashiach will come in a time when he is most needed (because the world is so evil), or in a time when he is most deserved (because the world is so good).  For example, each of the following has been suggested as the time when the Mashiach will come:

  • when all Israel repent a single day
  • when all Israel observe a single sabbath properly
  • when all Israel observe two sabbaths in a row properly
  • in a generation that is totally innocent, or totally guilty
  • in a generation that loses hope
  • in a generation where children are totally disrespectful towards their parents and elders (commonly thought to be "our generation", in every generation!)

What Will the Mashiach Do?

Before the time of the Mashiach, there will be war and great suffering (Ezekiel 38,16).  Then the Mashiach will bring about the political and spiritual redemption of the Jewish people by bringing all Jews outside Israel back to Israel, and restoring Jerusalem (Isaiah 11,11-12Jeremiah 23,830,3Hosea 3,4-5).  He will establish a Torah government in Israel that will be the center of all world government, both for Jews and Gentiles (Isaiah 2,2-4; 11,1042,1).  He will rebuild the Temple and reestablish its worship (Jeremiah 33,18).  He will restore the religious court system of Israel, if it had not already been reestablished before him, and establish the Torah as the law of the land (Jeremiah 33,15).

  3. i feel depleted of energy too, but for the reason that yesterday i fell right down again.

My faith as Noahide that is. Cannot say more, Hashem knows. At the moment i cannot pray.

    Just angry with myself.

I say again, NO one knows when Mashiach will come, its all up to Hashem.. no one else.
The times in this world are the worst, and it does point that Hashem has to do something to help all humans.

Mashiach will come! But the time is in Hashem's Hands.

As far as i read and see, there are lots of people christians too, who say Mashiach is coming, but their thinking of who he might be is their thinking and goes agaist Torah.

I just follow Torah, and go by that Holy Book.

Have to do more humbling of myself and teshuva too. Hope Gd helps me Amen.

    oh me.

  4. I don't know if you literally fell down, or you fell down into a depression... either way the main thing is that you get back up.
I'm sure you will. Refuah shelaimah.

  6. The motto of Chabad is "We Want Moshiach Now!". Rabbi Avigdor Miller (ie the non-Hassidic "Misnagdim" motto is "We Want Moshiach LATER!". "According to the effort so is the reward" (Avos). The longer the Darkness of Exile & This World continues, the more reward for us for resisting it! Once Moshiach appears, all possibility of extra reward suddenly ends forever! And Hashem wants to expand our reward by DELAYING Moshiach! ie we may have to go the whole hog up to the year 5960 (=2200): Much more reward for us, even if the wait is not too pleasant!

    1. Good luck believing that golus can continue until 2200. Mind boggling.

    2. You obviously have not been following this blog or keeping up at all with current events if you believe the world can continue without Moshiach until 2200. Most people can’t even see it going another few months or, at most, a year. You’re the first person I ever heard that ever believed golus can continue much longer.

  7. It is absolutely forbidden to be depressed. As we know at the end of days Etzer Hara before dying will try hard to make people depressed. Not only you but everybody are suffering. Be strong and dance and sing the songs you like to kill that Etzer. We have all the signs that we are at the end. Be the one who will slap your Etzer at the end and not vice versa. We have Tsaddikim in EY that saying that everything is ready for the Goyel to redeem us, just wait patiently and talk more to Hashem to help you.
