Unity is Strength

Source: Rabbi Gee NChaya Vogel
Translation: Milchama - war; Am Echad - one people

"Behold! the people, the Children of Israel, are more numerous and stronger than we" [Shemot 1:9]

The verse teaches us, said R'Yisrael of Rizhin, that when the Jews act as one people, free of discord and strife, then the nations of the world see them as ''more numerous and stronger'' than themselves and realize that they cannot dominate the Jews.

This can be compared to a father who invited all his children to his home.

When they arrived, they gathered around him.

The father held several thin twigs in his hand. He gave one to each of his children and then asked them to break them.

His children snapped the dry twigs with ease.

The father then passed around a bundle of several twigs.  "Now" said the father "please try breaking this bundle."  Each one tried to break the bundle but none succeeded.

"You see" said the father "as long as you remain united in the same way that these branches are united, nobody will ever be able to harm you! But if you act divisively and there is disharmony among you, then be aware that a lone individual is as feeble and easily broken as a thin twig."

  2. There is only one true achdut possible - like when we were of one heart and one mind - when we accepted the Torah. The only true achdut that is possible is when Am Yisrael which is faithful to the covenant unite together.

It can't be with gentiles or Erev Rav Jews or Non-observant Jews (who the halachah says do not have the status of a Jew (although they remain a Jew in essence).

From such as these we have to separate. That is ratzon Hashem as the Torah says. Don't be misled.

  3. Yet there is a famous saying no Jew will be left behind. HaShem loves all Jews. Its not right for us to judge another Jew,we have enough people out there doing this.

  4. Tsibur = tsadikim, beinonim, rashaim
Arbat haminim includes those without Torah or mitzvot or gmilut chasadim
Every Jew who lives in Israel is a complete tsadik even if it doesn't seem like it
All the murdered Jews in the teva party made tshuva before dying, and btw they suffered in our place
Every Jew who still calls himself by the name Jew will be saved in the geula
Yishuv haaretz kneged kol haTorah kula
Only Hashem knows who is 'observant' and what is in our hearts. Nearly all non religious Jews today are tinok shenishba.

Sorry, but what you wrote is divisive and not even true. We have to bring our Jewish brothers and sisters closer to the Torah not separate ourselves. In Israel at least everyone is coming together in the light of the atrocities. If we don't unite now when exactly will we?

  5. There is a reason why the judges in the Heavenly Tribunal change with the progression of time. It is because a man who lived 2,000 years ago or even 200 years ago, cannot judge a man living in the year 2023. He simply couldn't understand the conditions here in 2023.

None of us can judge anyone else, we just can't make that call, that is not our job.

I agree with LL that most Jews today are tinok shenishba, and sadly even those who should know better have been caught up in the brainwashing of our times.

  6. Kol yisrael me'laim mitzvot ke'rimon
The Rambam said that one action can tip the heavenly scales, who knows if it isn't the action of a 'non-observant' Jew.

This shabbat is shabbat olami for unity. I have only seen it advertised in Hebrew.

  7. From ynet, the shooting from yemen and intercepting by the US warship of missiles, means that Iran and the US have entered the war, and hizbollah to follow.

The theory and pondering is all fine, but we need the Geula now, not in six months.
