As I said, it's speculation, you're welcome to argue with me and I won't be offended. I just find it a coincidence that Trump needs to be dragged into this war, seemingly against his will.

Seems to me he's been trying very hard to stay out of it. But it's hard to know what he really wants because he tells so many lies in order to confuse the enemy. He was aiming for peace talks, as far as I'm aware. As futile as they are, that's what he wanted to achieve.
DeleteTrump campaigned on not getting into any wars. He is deeply anti-war, and a big part of his base is also deeply anti-war. And they definitely don't want to get mired in another endless Middle Eastern regime-change war. But Trump is also not shy about striking when he must strike (Al Baghdadi, Quassem Solemani, the Houthis ...) . So, if Trump thinks getting involved is necessary for American interests - he'll do it.
DeleteAs several analysts have speculated, Trump and Bibi are playing geopolitical "good cop - bad cop", with Bibi being the bad cop, and Trump being the good cop, talking about deals and so on. I think it has all been orchestrated behind the scenes in advance, and now everybody is playing their respective parts.
