Last Tuesday marked five years since former Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon went into a coma - today's report from the Washington Post notes that he responds to pinches and opens his eyes when spoken to.
JERUSALEM -- The personal doctor of Ariel Sharon says the comatose former Israeli prime minister responds to pinches and opens his eyes when spoken to.
Dr. Shlomo Segev made the remarks in a program broadcast Saturday on Israeli television that coincided with the fifth anniversary of the massive stroke that incapacitated the ex-prime minister.
The 82-year-old Sharon is a former war hero who led Israel from 2001 until the 2006 stroke that left him comatose. Severe hemorrhaging caused significant brain damage and he has been in a vegetative state since.
Former Sharon spokesman Raanan Gissin told The AP there has been no change in Sharon's condition.
Sharon was moved home in November, but Gissin said he has since been returned to the long-term care facility outside Tel Aviv for treatment.
I wonder what Mr. Sharon's comments would be about his actions over Gush Katif.
ReplyDeleteI love Arik. I hope that he comes back to us.
ReplyDeletehe is a very inspiring person. i remember reading what Rav Yitzchak Kadouri spoke of him, he told not to speak negatively of him as he found three wars and defended the nation. if only he had listened to the Rebbe's advice not to enter politcs, and remain connected to the military. i pray he comes out of this. blessings.
ReplyDeleteMore damage has been done to Israel - more holy land has been given away for absolutely NOTHING by the Israeli "right" than the Israel Left -- Begin, Netanyhu and Sharon. Do not whitewash Ariel Sharon. He was corrupt. That is why he cooperated with the Jew-hating Left and the media in order to save his own skin. It's easy to revere a man like Sharon when you haven't been thrown out of a home you lived in for 30 years!! All the lies of how it would be easy and they would have new homes. Do they have new homes and farms? How many families broke up? How many heart attacks? How many suicides? How many children abandoned their faith? The synagogues destroyed and the graves having to be moved, of those killed fighting for and dying for Israel? What a disappointment to read this sort of praise for the architect of so much misery... better to be silent. He WON by voting against Amram Mitzna who's political platform was DISENGAGEMENT! He did not allow a referendum...
ReplyDeleteHere, Here Moriah. And for those Rabbanim who joined Sharon's government on Asarah B'Tevet 5765 by signing a letter of intent on that date to join, how secure is your position in a soon to be re-established Sanhedrin? Even the greatest among us need to repent now. A year from now might be, might be, too late.
ReplyDeleteHundreds of thousands of Jews all over the world need to hear your official apologies to the expelled 10,000 NOW! Too many of them actually believe that You supported this Crime Against Humanity!
As for Sharon, apparently even after all of his heroism, Eretz Yisrael does not want him in its dust.
By the way, Rav Ovadiah Yosef officially apologized to the residents of Yesha during the height of the Al Aksa Intafada in 2002 or 2003 for supporting Oslo. He said that he had voted for peace but not the peace that had resulted. He swallowed his pride as the Gadol HaDor for Sephardim, bit the bullet, and did the right thing. An apology from Gedolim is not without precedent.
ReplyDeleteAriel Sharon Dead at 77
ReplyDeletewww.outsidethebeltway.com
World Tribune is reporting that Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon died at 1 p.m. Israeli time January 6, 2006. Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, the most powerful Israeli leader in 50 years, has died. He was 77... And I thought he was Dead Now which one is Saying The Truth this way or other way he is Still Dead n going threw alot of Pain
Akram, he didn't die, he went into a coma on that date. He is still alive.
ReplyDeleteI don't really believe Mr. Sharon thought things would turn out as they did. But it goes against the word of G-D. You CAN'T undo His commands. Our last 4 US presidents are guilty of trying to undo G-D'S commands that only the JEWS will inhabit the land of Israel, and it will not be divided. I tried warning both Mr. Clinton AND President Bush of what would occur. It did no good. We are now in a very near financial; collapse, and that bodes doubly ill with what I believe we have a muslim as a President. The old testament prophets of G-D were SO RIGHT! You can SEE the prophecies building up to come true VERY, VERY SOON! I belive Israel has their best Prime Minister in Benyamin Netanyahu. He standsa alone against the trio of nations and the UN against allowing the Palestinians to have more land, an d is doing a great job in keeping terrorists away from Israel. KEEP HIM IN OFFFICE! His last name ends with "YAHU". With thaty name, I'd trust him, of course unless you are an athiest. But you'll see for yourself if you'll only read and learn fr9m a Rabbi the prophicies; the ones thart have come to pass both ancient and today's, and the ones in the making NOW. G-d Bless Israel!
ReplyDeleteThe times, times and half times are at an end. We ALL witneses of the Prophecies that are indeed being fullfilled this day and age. Watch Israel!
ReplyDeleteAnonymous: please explain re... the times, times and half times are at an end. [I know its from Sefer Daniel]
ReplyDeleteDevorah: The Targum Yonatan ben Uziel if he had lived to comment on K'tuvim (Holy Writings), the last 1/3 of Hebrew Scriptures, or to be the official Targum (translator) of these Holy Writings, we would know the exact interpretation of that verse in Daniel. One likely translation of Daniel 12:7, but by no means the only interpretation, is times to be (mo'adim) refers to two years. This is often the case when there is no number specified for a period with a plural ending. Therefore time, times, and a half could refer to 1 + 2 + 1/2 years which would be 3 1/2 years. Yet, that is just the most likely of several interpretations. The Targum Yonatan was taken too soon into Gan Eden after his official Targum on Navi'im (the Prophets) was completed for us to really know for sure. So 3 1/2 years from when? Well it would seem to be that it is the second half of the Shmittah cycle before ben David comes in the 8th year following the Shmittah year. The new Shmittah cycle began in 5769 and was preceded by just ten days with the collapse of Lehman Brothers just before Rosh HaShana in 2008. Obuzzard was elected President. The half way point of this cycle is Rosh Chodesh Nisan 5772. If this interpretation of Daniel holds up, then this is when the real action begins for the last 3 1/2 years. G-d bless.
ReplyDeleteAnd that same verse has the name Obama encoded thru it [see Time Times and a Half of Time] - which could PERHAPS also mean Obama will only serve 3.5 years as President, bringing us to R"H Av 5772 - or July 20, 2012.
ReplyDeletei just saw a video on youtube saying that the messiah will come shortly after this man's death. in an effort to see if he's still alive today i've been searching everything about him on the internet.
ReplyDeletei have a feeling he wont be able to keep himself alive past the year 2012
because apparently thats when the end of the world is said to happen.
so i wont be surprised to hear that he died. stragely it feels like the people in charge of his care are deliberateely trying to keep him alive. for some reason.
he's been in a coma for 6 years.
there has to be a reason they're keeping him alive. its a bit too long for a person in a coma.
Thou shalt be visited of the LORD of hosts with thunder, and with earthquake, and great noise, with storm and tempest, and the flame of devouring fire. And the multitude of all the nations that fight against Ariel, even all that fight against her and her munition, and that distress her, shall be as a dream of a night vision. It shall even be as when an hungry man dreameth, and, behold, he eateth; but he awaketh, and his soul is empty: or as when a thirsty man dreameth, and, behold, he drinketh; but he awaketh, and, behold, he is faint, and his soul hath appetite: so shall the multitude of all the nations be, that fight against mount Zion.
