Devorah, thank you for posting this. A lot of people either believe that there is no such thing, or else they believe in a Hindu or Buddhist or some other Indian (from India) version of it, and think that's where it comes from.
Somebody please tell Rav Anava that Atziluth in English is EMANATION, just as light EMANATES from the sun, all the more so the equivalent (l'havdil, maybe Ohr haGanuz?) emanates from haShem.
Since his English is really good, it would be a shame for him not to internalize this word. He may have heard it but not remembered it.
