I love Pollard's comment about the government erasing the blue from the Israeli flag, leaving only the white of surrender. If I'm not mistaken, the blue represents shamayim - or G-d. All modern western societies have been erasing G-d from public life, and Israel seems to be following this pattern. Just look at the recent hoopla over eliminating kosher-for-Passover requirements in hospitals. Sad state of affairs everywhere these days.
