Rabbi warns Albanese his leadership is being judged after Bondi attack - A rabbi who comforted first responders to the 9/11 terror attack has travelled from New York to call on the Prime Minister to speak out against the scourge of anti-Semitism.
Just one of the hundreds [thousands?] of notes of support received by Jews in Sydney from their non-Jewish neighbours, as well as from total strangers.
Rabbi Yehoram Ulman, Chabad Bondi

For anyone who is not an Aussie, it's pronounced Bondi-eye not Bond-ee.
ReplyDeleteOK.
Oh yes Americans think it's like Pam Bondi, but it's not
ReplyDeleteBond-Eye.
Shalom Devorah,
ReplyDeleteour hearts still grieve the loss of innocent Jewish and non-Jewish lives during the evil acts of murderous hatred during the first night of Chanukah. We held our unity vigil on the Gold Coast last Monday night. It showed the Australia that we knew but lost. Our Chabad Rabbis spoke sincerely with humility shining the Light in a world of such darkness. Similar to the Bondi vigil on the last night of Chanukah, we as a community trying make sense of such evil reached out in order to reclaim our lost Aussie ethos that our Federal Albanese Government had undermined. The Jewish communities have borne the full brunt of this hatred that this Government willfully ignored despite all the warnings and telltale signs. The Jillian Segal Recommendations on combatting antisemitism had been sitting on Albanese's desk for six months and totally ignored. Albanese, a Yasser Arafat (Yemach Sh'mo) fan, a friend of Jeremy Corbyn and a recent endorser of a Palestinian State at the UN has blood on his hands and the calls for his resignation are growing by the day.
It is obvious that the Islamic Jihadists strike on Jewish Religious festivals, be it Simchat Torah on 7th October in Israel, Yom Kippur at Manchester and now Chanukah at Bondi Beach. Thus proving beyond any doubt that this not just a political struggle but rather a religious war. That being the case, the biggest Jewish Community in Australia is in Caufield, Melbourne and technically it should of been the target of this attack as was the fire bombing attack on Adass Israel Synagogue.
However, it is my opinion that the evil mastermind behind this attack being ISIS chose Bondi for one specific reason. Yes, Bondi and Sydney's eastern beach suburbs is home to Sydney's largest Jewish community. However, Bondi Beach is also a national and international icon. It represents the vibrant Aussie beach culture and way of life. Therefore, the evil master plan would have been to attack a soft Jewish target whilst attacking the Aussie way of life and by extension western culture as an act of "globalize the Intifada." Because of the Australian Government's total inaction on radical Islamic antisemitism, these terrorists possibly banked on Australian society blaming the Jews as the reason behind the attack. Mind you, vile social media comments are already circulating underlining this very blatant falsehood.
Australians on the contrary rallied around their Jewish communities in a sign of unity and solidarity. Australia has refound it soul and I pray that this unique Aussie spirit continues to strengthen and becomes the catalyst of the Rebbe's prediction the first manifestation of Mashiach influence would commence in Australia.
Many may not know this, but Australia has a special connection to Israel. One that was forged on the 31st October 1917 in the Australian Light Horse Brigade's victory at Beersheva enabling the defeat of the Ottoman Turks and allowing General Allenby to enter Jerusalem during Chanukah 1917. The youngest nation on Earth at the time was used by HaShem to commence the liberation of the oldest country in the world. And again in October/November 1942 during the battle of El Alemein where the Aussie troops stopped the German advancement in Egypt. Aussie military commanders also trained the Jewish Palmach. This is testament to Australia's special relationship with Israel which is revived despite the red and green blocks trying to destroy it.
There is momentum for a Royal Commission and the amplification of hate speech laws. Our Jewish communities deserve better and may HaShem use the loss of innocent Jewish life at Bondi to bring the Light of Messianic Hatikva into a very dark world that turned on Israel on 7th October 2023. May the dark vitriolic hatred that started on the steps on the Sydney Opera House on the 9th October 2023 be transformed into the Jewish Light that emanates from Sydney's Bondi Beach.

Wow Joe that's really interesting information. I never really knew much about the El Alamein battle.
DeleteThanks for your support.
At the site of the Bondi massacre, a memorial has been installed staffed by Chabad representatives. At the new Mitzvah House, the thousands who come to Bondi Beach to pay their respects are given the opportunity to do a mitzvah and live openly and proudly as Jews in memory of those who were murdered for their Judaism.
