What Happens to Unanswered Prayers?

After reading Myrtle Rising's latest post about the Unseen Power of Prayers, I remembered this old blog post.

by Rabbi Eli Mansour

The Torah tells in the opening verses of Parashat Vaethanan that Moshe pleaded with God to allow him to cross the Jordan River with B'nei Yisrael and enter the Land of Israel. However, despite Moshe's impassioned pleas, God denied him permission to enter the land, and commanded him not to continue praying for this matter.

The Sages tell us that Moshe uttered no fewer than 515 prayers in requesting permission to enter the Land of Israel. This number is alluded to in the Parasha's opening word -  ואתחנן  ("I pleaded") - which has the numerical value of 515 (6+1+400+8+50+50=515).

The obvious question arises, if God knew that He would not grant Moshe's request, and that He would ultimately instruct Moshe to discontinue his prayers, why did He wait for Moshe to complete 515 prayers? Why did He not interrupt Moshe immediately as he began praying, and thus spare him the time and effort he invested in reciting the additional 514 prayers?

The Rabbis teach us that there is no such thing as a wasted or unanswered prayer. If a person prays for something and his request is not granted, he must not conclude that his prayer was recited in vain. God stores all our prayers in a "prayer bank" of sorts from where they are "withdrawn" at some later point, perhaps for somebody else, and perhaps only generations later. If a person prays for an ill patient Avraham Ben Sara, and the patient unfortunately does not survive his illness, those prayers will perhaps be effective in bringing a cure to another Avraham Ben Sara somewhere else in the world.

During the years of the Communist movement, the children of many righteous Jews and Torah scholars abandoned Judaism and joined the atheistic Communists. Their parents recited untold numbers of prayers and shed rivers of tears asking that their children should return to their heritage and traditions. Their prayers were not immediately answered, but many children and grandchildren of these Jewish Communists have returned to Jewish observance. The grandparents' prayers were not recited in vain; they were not meaningless. They were stored and preserved in the heavenly "prayer bank" and ultimately succeeded in bringing scores of Jews back to Torah and Mitzvot.

For this reason, perhaps, God did not interrupt Moshe's prayers despite the fact that the decree was irreversible. He anticipated that in future generations, Benei Yisrael would face crisis and hardship and would lack sufficient merit to earn salvation. Moshe's 515 prayers were necessary to save the Jewish people when they would otherwise be unworthy of being saved. Who knows if our existence today is owed to the merit of Moshe's 515 prayers!

Never should a person despair from praying. Even if one's requests are not immediately granted, they will nevertheless have a meaningful impact and effect on somebody at some point in time. Every heartfelt prayer and every chapter of Tehillim is significant and beneficial - regardless of whether we can immediately discern its impact.

Impossible

We are living in a time of great confusion. And that's an under-statement.

At this point, I could probably believe anything about anybody, but there is something that, for me, is impossible to believe.

That thing is: that Bibi is from the Erev Rav.

I'm not buying that at all.

It is IMPOSSIBLE-  because if he was indeed Erev Rav - which you can read about here Mystical Roots of Evil - then the Lubavitcher Rebbe would not have been as connected to him as he was.

That would be impossible, because the Rebbe knew who everyone was, he could see into your soul, he knew what you were thinking, he answered your questions before you even had a chance to voice them, he underlined particular words in his responses which specified the actual issue at hand and which only the receiver of that letter would understand why it had been emphasized.  Anyone who ever had anything to do with the Rebbe knows all of this.

Therefore, Bibi cannot possibly be from the Erev Rav.

I really needed to say that.

The Post-Flood Era

Source: Based on Sefer Hasichos 5751, Likutei Sichos vol. 15 - Lubavitcher Rebbe

Chassidic thought teaches that before the Flood, G-d sustained the world despite its low spiritual standing, due to His attribute of kindness.  There was a limit, however, to how long G-d was willing to sustain a world without merit - hence the Flood.

The waters of the flood were not merely a punishment.  They purified the world, making physicality in general more refined, and spiritually attuned. [see The Great Flood]

Consequently, in the post flood era, people were more predisposed to repentance.  This ensured that G-d would always sustain the world - not despite of, but - because of its spiritual standing.  For, even if man would become corrupt, people would inevitably repent, ensuring that the world itself would have sufficient merits for its continued existence.

With this in mind, we can explain the following details:

  • Noach was unaware of the above, so he was scared to repopulate the world, fearing it would be destroyed again.  Therefore, G-d had to re-command him to ''be fruitful and multiply''. [Noach 9:1]
  • The inner reason why Noach's generation failed to repent was because, before the Flood, the world was spiritually insensitive.
  • Meat is an extremely coarse food that can lead a person to excessive physicality.  Thus, it was only permitted to the spiritually-attuned post-Flood generation. [Noach 9:3]
  • Before the Flood, people had extremely long lifespans because the world was sustained by G-d's kindness which was bestowed disproportionately to people's merits.
  • Before the Flood, physicality was more coarse.  This was true in a literal sense, to the extent that the clouds were too thick to refract light, so a rainbow never appeared.  After the Flood, physicality become more refined, so the clouds began to refract light.  Thus, the rainbow was not only a ''sign of G-d's promise not to destroy the world, it was also a physical consequence of the refinement of the world that ensured its permanent existence.

These "end of days' times we sometimes see a different kind of rainbow - the dark rainbow: this image is from New Mexico, September 2025.

The Yanuka Speaking to Former Hostage

H/t Rivka

I watched this with the sub-titles.  The Yanuka speaks to former hostage Segev, and Segev's father tells him how the Yanuka foresaw his return.

Yanuka: "I see Miracles.... you were the closest one to HKBH in this generation. Hashem brought the hostages back on purpose on Simchat Torah so the people would not be afraid of that date."

He also mentions the extra two years served by Yosef.

The Gaza "Peace Deal"

by Avi Abelow

Trump’s Gaza “Peace Deal” Is Already Costing Israeli Blood — and It Proves He Still Doesn’t Understand Who the Real Enemy Is

The moment the White House Gaza deal was sold as a “historic peace breakthrough,” I feared the worst, not because I oppose diplomacy, but because I know how our enemies exploit Western weakness. Now, just days into Trump’s Gaza “deal,” those fears are being confirmed. The plan, championed by Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, is already costing Israeli lives and empowering the same terror states that financed October 7th.

Let’s be honest: Witkoff and Kushner are more terrified of the deal collapsing than they are committed to allowing Israel to finish the job of destroying Hamas and protect Israelis. Instead of backing Israel’s moral right to eliminate the jihadist cancer in Gaza, they are warning Jerusalem to hold back. According to reports, Witkoff and Kushner personally spoke with Minister Dermer today, urging Israel to “respond in a calculated manner” to avoid actions that could “collapse” the continuation of Trump’s plan. In other words: keep quiet while terrorists reload and continue trying to kill us.

And the price of that diplomatic paralysis was paid in blood today.

Tragedy in Rafah: At approximately 10:30 this morning, Hamas terrorists emerged from a tunnel and fired an anti-tank missile at an Israeli engineering vehicle, killing two soldiers. Another soldier was severely wounded. Minutes later, more terrorists fired sniper rounds at additional engineering units. This is not “peace.” This is a pause, a deadly, one-sided ceasefire that leaves our troops sitting ducks while Hamas still roams Gaza’s ruins.

But perhaps the most revealing moment of all came from a recent 60 Minutes interview with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. Steve Witkoff said he felt “betrayed” when he learned that Israel had struck Hamas leaders in Qatar. Betrayed? By Israel trying to eliminate the masterminds of the October 7th massacre hiding comfortably in Doha, Qatar? That reaction alone exposes the moral confusion at the heart of Trump’s Gaza plan. And it got worse. Jared Kushner said that Trump felt “the Israelis were getting a little bit out of control with their actions and it was time to be very strong and stop them from doing things that he felt were not in their long-term interest.”

Let that sink in. After the worst massacre of Jews since the Holocaust, funded by Qatar and Iran, President Trump, the man who is Israel’s greatest ally, was saying that Israel was the one that needed to be stopped.

This shows the fundamental flaw in Trump’s understanding of the Middle East and of Qatar’s role as the financial and ideological engine behind Hamas and the global Muslim Brotherhood movement.

Trump could have used his immense leverage a year ago to pressure Qatar and Turkey to force Hamas to release our hostages. Yet, he didn’t use that leverage until now. We could have saved so many Israeli lives, hostages and IDF soldiers had he used this leverage sooner. Instead, Trump is now stopping Israel from doing what must be done, defeating the Qatari supported Jihadi enemy in Gaza, and protecting Israel through strength, not through appeasing the jihadi Qataris.

Qatar is not a partner. Qatar is the problem. It shelters Hamas leaders, funds global jihad, and manipulates the West through Al Jazeera and business deals. Yet Trump still treats Qatar like a trusted ally, even a business partner, rather than the dangerous enemy it is.

And now, Trump’s plan has created the next disaster: an international force, composed of Muslim Brotherhood-linked countries like Qatar, Turkey, and Egypt, set to take control of Gaza.

This isn’t peacekeeping. It’s outsourcing terror management to the same powers that nurtured Hamas. Even worse, France and Britain are pushing a UN Security Council resolution to formalize this “international Gaza force” (ISF). Once that resolution passes, it will be virtually impossible to undo, trapping Israel under an internationally controlled Gaza, while jihadists regroup beneath it.

Have we learned nothing from UNIFIL in Lebanon? That “peacekeeping force” has been a total failure for decades, allowing Hezbollah to rearm, entrench, and threaten Israel with 150,000 rockets. Finally, UNIFIL is being disbanded. And now Netanyahu is being pressured to accept an even worse version in Gaza? An Arab-Muslim internationally approved “peacekeeping” force commanded under CENTCOM, with Qatar and Turkey embedded inside it? That’s not peace; that’s surrender wrapped in diplomacy.

Let’s be clear: no ceasefire, no foreign force, and no international supervision can stop jihad. Only Israel can. The only resolution that ensures Gaza will never again be a launchpad for massacre is 100% Israeli control, complete demilitarization, permanent oversight, and removal of all terror supporting Gazazan via Trump's emigration plan. Anything less means another October 7th in the future, just under a new name.

And the elephant in the room remains Qatar. The refusal by Trump, and the entire international community, to confront Qatar as the primary sponsor of the Muslim Brotherhood is the single greatest obstacle to lasting peace. Until Doha is treated as the enemy it is, every “peace deal” will simply buy time for the next war.

I say this as someone who respects what Trump did for Israel, in this war, in recognizing Jerusalem, the Golan Heights, the Abraham Accords etc. but this time, he’s wrong. Dead wrong.

Trump's instincts to support Israel are being clouded by the same old State Department thinking that sees terrorists as negotiators and sees Israel’s self-defense as aggression. True friends tell hard truths: Qatar is not your friend, and appeasing it will only guarantee more bloodshed.

Israel must refuse to be boxed in by this plan. We must tell our American allies, clearly and unapologetically: only Israel will decide what is necessary for its survival. We will not outsource our security to the UN, to Muslim Brotherhood states, like Qatar, Turkey and Egypt, or to global diplomacy that has repeatedly failed to protect us.

Peace will come, but not through “pauses” that empower killers or through international forces that serve jihadist agendas. Peace will come only through Israel's total victory, strength, clarity and Trump's emigration plan for all jihadi Muslims.

Trump’s Gaza deal may have bought quiet for the cameras, but it’s already costing us lives. It’s time to end this illusion of “peace” before we lose more lives.

We are winning this war, and we will win this war, even if we have to suffer the consequences of this bad deal. The most important process taking place is the wake up process of the Jewish people. We will overcome.

Am Yisrael Chai.

Purification Requires Agitation and Confusion

Rebbe Nachman explains how a person is purified.  So too, the world, which is being purified, also requires agitation and confusion.

from the writings of Rebbe Nachman of Breslov, translated by Rabbi Aryeh Kaplan

When one begins to attach to a great tzadik and truly serve G-d, he is often filled with great confusion and evil thoughts.

The evil was always there, but only now it is surfacing.

A pot of water may seem perfectly clear. But when it is placed on a fire and begins to boil, all its impurities are brought to the surface. One must stand by and constantly remove these impurities.

The original purity is merely an illusion. With a little heat the impurity surfaces. But when these impurities are removed, the water is truly pure and clear.

The same is true of a person. Before he begins serving G-d, good and evil are completely mixed together within him. The impurities are so closely united with the good that they cannot be recognized.

But then this person comes close to a true Tzadik and begins to burn with great feeling toward G-d. He is touched with the heat of purification, and all the evil and impurities come to the surface. Here again one must stand by and constantly remove the dirt and impurities as they appear. In the end the person is truly pure and clear.

Purification requires this period of agitation and confusion.

In the beginning a person is totally immersed in the material. He then begins to come close to G-d.

It would seem possible to remove this dirt and impurity at once. But his mind is completely intermingled with this mire. Were it to be removed immediately, his mind would be drawn out with it.

Therefore, one must be purified little by little, in gradual stages.

Angelic Healing

Image: Dusteramaranth

Source: "Anatomy of the Soul" - Chaim Kramer
from the teachings of Rebbe Nachman

Every aspect of creation is governed by an angel. Even trees and plants (especially those with healing properties) have angels supervising their growth. As the Sages said [Bereishit Rabbah 10:6] "There is nothing below, not even a common herb, which does not have an angel on high that strikes it and tells it to grow". Each of these angels receives its life force from the particular Utterance which is the source of its creation. It then transmits a measured amount of this life force to its particular charge.

This power of the angels to receive and transmit life force is referred to as the power of the "hands". (The Hebrew word for power is ko'ach, numerically equal to 28, the number of bones contained in the fingers of both hands). With its "right hand" an angel receives life force. With its "left hand", it dispenses the exact amount needed to its charge below. This is the meaning of the Sages' statement: "he strikes it and tells it to grow". "Striking" is done with the angel's left hand (for the left side represents Gevurah, judgment).

The Torah tells us [Proverbs 4:20-22] "My son attend to my words, incline your ear to my utterances.... For they are life to those who find them and healing to all their flesh." We learn from this that all healing flows from G-d, through His Torah. The Torah is the source of the [healing] power of the angels, who in turn transmit it to all the various herbs in their charge. This power is manifest when one accepts the Torah and has faith in the Sages who reveal it, for the Torah was given over to the Sages, and one who deviates from their teachings is called "he who causes a breach in the wall [of faith].

This is the meaning of the injunction [Deut 17:11] "Do not deviate, neither to the right nor to the left, from what they teach you". If you deviate to the right (tending towards unnecessary zealousness), your angel's "right hand" (ability to receive from its corresponding archangel and Utterance) will be hindered. If you deviate to the left (by transgressing the Torah), the angel's "left hand" (ability to transmit) will be hindered.

Of course, the removal of your angel's hands means that you cannot receive your healing, for without an angel to bestow the life force upon it, the herb upon which your healing depends loses its power to heal. Thus, the degree to which a person is attached to Torah determines the degree to which he is able to be healed.

The Messianic Secret of the Israeli Hostage Crisis

Rabbi Mendel Kessin - 20 min video

Gog, Cyrus, Marcus Aurelius.... take your pick

Large signs bearing the image of US President Donald Trump now dominate the billboards of Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, as Israel braces for 24 to 48 hours of powerful emotion—the long-awaited return of most of the 48 hostages still held in Gaza, and the arrival of the man many Israelis credit for making it happen. Dr. Mike Evans, founder of the Friends of Zion Museum, launched a nationwide billboard campaign this week declaring, “Cyrus the Great is alive.”

Nova Corona Borealis, A Star Shoots Out From Yaakov, Will We See Moshiach Soon?

H/t CS

Laivi Shor

Astronomers are eagerly awaiting a Nova star in the Corona Borealis constellation. Is this the star prophesied in the Torah of "a Star will Shoot Out of Yaakov" announcing the coming of Moshiach?

Updated warning: at the 22 min mark until 22:20 there are images being shown of inside the vatican, see comments below for more details.  It is advisable not to look at these images.

The Sun is Wowing People Everywhere

These photos were taken hours ago in Hanson, Massachusetts by K. Evans.  It's not AI.  This is our sun. It's being affected by  the continually passing binary solar system.  All the colours and the halos... that's where they're coming from.

Similar photos were taken from various other places in the US, but these were the best.
