Rabbi Efraim Palvanov
Revealing the hidden wisdom in one of the most mystical ancient texts, the Book of Esther. Along the way, we explore the Seven Prophetess of Israel, the Ten Sefirot, the mysterious “Erev Rav”, and Esther’s incredible prophecy of the Nuremberg Trials. Plus: why is the number three so important in Judaism, and what is the deeper meaning behind the triangle and the Star of David?
I am usually a big fan of Rabbi Palvanov but I was very disappointed with this lecture when he veered off topic and spoke disparagingly about a large segment of klal Yisroel and it's leaders. This is not the way to bring achdus. There are twelve shvatim (tribes) and there are many ways to serve Hashem. I tried to comment on Spotify but comments have been turned off for this lecture.
ReplyDeleteHe was talking about the Erev Rav. I don't understand any of it. He said these Erev Rav are trying to bring down the government, but the people I read on the internet say the government is the Erev Rav.
ReplyDeleteSo basically I have no idea what is going on anywhere anytime or by who.
:)
Wonderful shiur when he was on topic. When he went off topic I believe he made major mistakes since Zohar & תלמוד בבלי are different time periods and in the mishna there is no mention of Balei Talmud - so it wouldn't be mentioned in the Zohar but balei mishna includes the gemara since it is the explanation of the mishna.
ReplyDeleteAlso ת"א שמע vs ת"א חזיא is understood as having to do with lower generations. Actually Talmud Yerushalmi is ת"א חזיא since it's a generation before תלמוד בבלי which then became ת"א שמע.
Everything in the Gemarah is divine as Eliyahu Hanavi said about 2 differing opinions that אלו ואלו דברי אלהי-ם חיים and the tradition is that when Moshiach comes the Halacha will be like Bais Shamai.
Purim Sameach Eli
Didn't get to see this latest video yet; but I would like to comment on the comments here. The govt at this time
ReplyDelete(since the establishment of the State has been Erev Rav).
But, then at the beginning, there were some real Jews
participating in the government. Now you can say that 99%
are Erev Rav.
The ones who are literally trying to take this government down are the leftists & athiestic so-called Jews who are really
the Erev Rav. We must also understand that there are about
five different types of Erev Rav, the worst are the Erev Rav
Amaleikim and they are the leftists in the upper echelons of
powers in the courts and military who seem to not care a bit
for Jewish lives. This has been the goal of almost 3400 years against our people, our Torah and G-D Almighty.
emes
Thank you for that explanation.
DeleteThe Rabbi was saying that a particular group of Jews who are asking for money for their yeshivot are the Erev Rav. It was way too complicated for me to work out, especially because I am still not 100% in good health, so I gave up before the shiur ended.
Rabbis should stick to Torah, not politics, as it muddies the waters and most of the listeners cannot decipher truth from fiction when it comes to these matters. We're not educated enough.
Just my opinion, not a criticism of the Rabbi per se, as usually I find his shiurim excellent and very informative.
I agree with you Devorah and everyone else here. The personal political views of any rabbi are not relevant and definitly should be omitted from shiurim for all the reasons mentioned here. I also only heard about 2/3 of the lecture. You see ....... when they insert their personal viewpoint which could be wrong, then they cast doubt on other things they have taught and that is a extremely unfortunate.

I too was disappointed and not likely to listen to him again. It was such an abrupt turn into hostile opinion which for me erased all the kidusha that came before. K'val.
ReplyDeleteHmmm...
ReplyDeleteHe quoted the Arizal and I don't think he made it up. He believes the source. He dafka said its not a person, a bochur, it's the ideology the division in place. I'm not sure I believe in Koller anymore either. I'm not sure. One must learn a discipline Torah says a father must teach his son a trade. Yessss. Learn Torah, but send your wife into the goyish world the while?? I believe we needed Kollel 50/100 years ago to keep The Knowledge, but today I think, a guy should do both. And he can't now, according to the rules of charedim. This was the rav's point. The world is not ideal. I wish I knew how I even felt 100% but I don't. I supported a Koller learner and lived next to many. But now, I wouldn't do it again. But, he must learn, no doubt. What do we think....
