Elijah's Mission

Source: Ben Ish Hai

Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and terrible day of the Lord. [Malachi 3:23]

Elijah comes... only to distance those who were drawn near... and to draw near those who have become distanced... [Eduyot 8:7]

Nowadays, most of the world adheres to falsehood and its accompanying wickedness; "all mankind is deceitful" [Psalms 116:11].

In the future, Elijah will change that.  He will distance falsehood - שׁקר - [whose letters are close together] and expel it from the world; and he will draw truth - אמת - [whose letters are far apart] near so that the entire world will adhere to it.

For sure Eliyahu is around since the terrible day of the Lord, the Yom HaDin started already on Rosh Hashanah 5776. He has to be found among the charismatic rabbis talking about emet to awaken Yisrael. Mizrachi, Kin, Kessin, Anava, Dror, etc. But he won't come into the open until he meets Mashiach.

Right now we are at the beginning of huge natural disasters and the military preparation for onslaught of humanity. It's hard to imagine the fire engulfing manking and the weapons of destruction the Homo Sapiens has invented out of yetser hara, inclination to evil.

Why should such evil mankind survive? It has no merits as Hashem expects.

The good people stay in humility, modesty and trust in G-d. They will be the survivors. Be one of them!

I have met Eliyahu Hanavi at Mearat Hamachpelah years ago: I believe he is Rav Yaakov Ades; simple, humble, no show, just cries for Am Yisrael all the time; and has tremendous power of Tikkun.

My take.
