The Month of Av and the War with Iran

Miracles can happen on Tisha b'Av, according to this short video Why Now? The Month of Av and the War with Iran, which is in Hebrew, but for me it was auto-dubbed into English.  

Iran is the head of the snake, Hashem is performing miracles for us in the 9 days.   With the help of Hashem we hope to see a great miracle on Tisha b'Av.   It is recommended to attack on this day for this reason.  

IY"H Tisha b'Av will no longer be a bad day for the people of Israel  - these are days that,  with the help of Hashem, will turn into joy and gladness.  We need to hold on to the name of Hashem and await Redemption and we will see great miracles.

5 Av - Yarzheit Arizal

The Arizal [1534-1572] - Rabbi Isaac Luria was the most famous Kabbalist in the city of Safed, Israel who became known as the "Holy Arizal" or ARI, an acronym for “The G-dly Rabbi Isaac of Blessed Memory.”

The Arizal passed away at the age of 38, and it was only during the last two years of his life that he met his foremost disciple, Rabbi Chaim Vital. The Arizal himself never wrote any books, however all his words were faithfully recorded by Rabbi Chaim Vital in what is known as Kitvei Ari, the “writings of the Arizal.” The Kitvei Ari is the key to the secrets of the Zohar, and it was the Arizal who formulated the Kabbalah into a comprehensive system. Rabbi Chaim Vital writes in the name of the Arizal that, “It is a Mitzvah to reveal this wisdom.” Until the time of the Arizal, knowledge of Kabbalah was not known outside of the tightly knit circle of the tzaddikim.

If you don't have young kids, then you don't understand.  They've been saying "six seven" for a long time. It's a chant, and as soon as they hear anyone say 6 7 they all start screaming "Six Seven".

and if you still don't understand..... it represents the final digits of the Hebrew years 5786 and 5787.... when we are expecting our Redeemer. 

Maimonides' [Rambam] Thirteen Principles of Faith. Specifically, the 12th principle states: "I believe with complete faith in the coming of Moshiach, and although he may tarry, nevertheless, I wait every day for him to come".

Subtle Slander

"These are the words that Moshe spoke to all Israel" [Devarim 1:1]

Why, asked the Megaleh Amukos [R' Nosson Nota Shapira] does the verse state "...that Moshe spoke to all Israel" and not simply "...that Moshe spoke to Israel"?

The acronym of the word "eileh" he answered is "avak lashon hara" - the dust of evil speech - subtle types of slander.

Chazal state in Maseches Bava Basra [165b] "Most individuals transgress the sin of theft, a small minority transgress the sin of illicit relations, but all transgress the sin of avak lashan hara."  The grave sin of lashon hara is a sin that all of Israel might come to transgress, so all Jews must be cautioned of the danger it presents.  The verse therefore states: "These are the words that Moshe spoke to all Israel."

"Menachem" Av

Most people think Av is the month of destruction. 

But perhaps Hashem wants us to notice something else first. 

The letters that spell *אב*… when reversed… spell *בא*. *Coming.* 

Our Sages teach that _Menachem_, which means Comforter, is one of the names of Mashiach. 

Maybe that’s how Hashem wants us to enter Av. 

*Menachem ba.* Mashiach is coming. 

If that's how Hashem asks us to begin Av… then perhaps this month isn't only about remembering what was lost. It's also about looking forward to what is coming. 

*The story isn’t over.* 

*The Geulah is coming!*

Today is Rosh Chodesh Av, the beginning of the Nine Days.  The Kaf HaChayim [551:1] states that everyone who meticulously observes the halachos of the first ten days of Av [which you can find here], thereby demonstrating his personal mourning over the churban of Yerushalayim, will merit to witness these ten miracles, listed below.

The Medrash [Medrash Rabbah Shmos 15:21] teaches that Hashem will bring forth ten new creations in the era of Moshiach: 

1. He will create a new light for the world. 

2. He will bring forth a freshwater spring from Yerushalayim whose waters will heal all illness. 

3. He will create trees that every month will produce new fruits that have curative powers.

4. All the cities of Eretz Yisroel will be rebuilt, including even Sodom and Amora. 

5. Hashem will rebuild Yerushalayim with sapphire stone that will glow and thereby attract all the nations of the world to come and marvel at the beauty of the city. 

6. The cow and the bear will graze together, and their young will play together. [See Yeshaya 11:7]. 

7. Hashem will make a covenant with all the creatures of the world and banish all weapons and warfare. [See Hoshea 2:20] 

8. There will be no more crying in the city of Yerushalayim. 

9. Death will perish forever. 

10. Everyone will be joyful, and there will be an end to all sighing or worry. 

May we all merit to see these miracles speedily and in our days.

These are verses 9 and 10 of Ezekiel 38. Breaking the sequence we have “Calculation of the Evil Computer,” and at the beginning of verse 10 toward verse 9 we have “YAHOO (יאהו),” which was one of the first digital Internet search engines. 

This reinforces that we are in the era of Gog Aretz ha’Magog. In verse 2  'Son of man, set thy face toward Gog, of the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him',  you have “Ben-Adam sim panêcha el-Gog  בֶּן־אָדָ֗ם שִׂ֤ים פָּנֶ֨יךָ֙ אֶל־גּוֹג֙ , and ‘el-Gog’ reversed is Google. 

So in verses 2 and 14 we have the same spelling as Google when ‘el-Gog’ is mentioned, and ‘YAHOO’ encoded in reverse in verses 9 and 10 where ‘calculation and evil computer’ are mentioned.

As the Talmud says: “Open a door as tiny as the eye of a needle, and I will open your gates wide enough to let carts and horse-drawn carriages drive through.”

All you need to do is make one small step... and Hashem will help you do whatever it is you're trying to achieve.  Ask Hashem to help you, believe that will happen, and you will be amazed.  Just do that one thing that has been defeating you all your life.  Take control of it and you will receive help from Above.  It won't be as hard as you think it will be, you will have Divine assistance if you seek it.  Go straight to the top, don't mess around with the middle-men, go straight to Hashem and ask for assistance.

Open a door as tiny as the eye of a needle and Hashem will open the gates wide enough to let carts and carriages drive through.

Yes, it works.  Just try.  Don't let go of Hashem though, keep talking to Him and keep praying to Him to get you and your carriages through the hole.

"Oh they're just clouds" - Nope.

These are two of the passing planets, right on top of us.  This is what they look like, colours are consistent, and this is why we are seeing deep red sunsets, purple skies and orange and green, which we've never seen before.   If you don't know what I'm talking about, you need to look up more often.

I know people find it impossible to believe. Wrap your mind around it, it's really happening.

How to Stop Worrying

 

Being Put to the Test

The following story, which took place in the Israeli city of Holon, stuns everyone who hears it. It makes people realize that there is a G-d in Israel, that there is a Judge, a judgment, and that a person can’t do whatever he wants.

A man once hired a carpenter to do some work in his home. He was a skilled craftsman who did particularly good work, and the man gave him the keys to his house, allowing him to work even when nobody was at home.

One day, while the carpenter was still in the home, the man arrived and made a serious accusation: He said that an expensive jewel belonging to his wife had been on a table in the hallway, and that witnesses had even seen it that very same morning. “Since no one but you has been here since then,” the man said, “we suspect that you stole it and we want you to give it back.”

Despite the vehement denials of the carpenter, the man continued to accuse him of the crime. When the carpenter refused to pay the man, he brought him to court.

Although we have known for a long time that secular courts are very poor at rendering fair decisions, many people were still stunned to hear how foolish their verdict was in this case. Based on witness accounts of having seen the jewel in the hallway that morning, the carpenter was ordered to pay the man its full value, namely 70,000 NIS. The injustice done to the carpenter was actually two-fold. First, it wouldn’t be easy to find such an amount of money to pay the man, especially for a craftsman who works hard for a living; and second, once people learned of the court’s verdict, he would have no clients left, since nobody would want to hire him, a carpenter now known as a sleazy thief who had the audacity to steal a precious jewel.

The second part of this story is that the carpenter was so affected by this incident that he died. But the story doesn’t end there. In fact it’s barely begun.

A few days after the carpenter died, the man’s wife opened her jewelry box and found her precious jewel inside!

It seems that she had forgotten that she placed it there herself, which is why she and her husband had been certain that the carpenter had stolen it. Now it turned out that all the accusations brought against the carpenter had been completely baseless.

The man’s wife was shocked by what had happened, and she asked a Rav how she could rectify things according to the Torah. The Rav advised her to gather a minyan and to go to the grave of the carpenter and ask forgiveness for everything that had happened to him. The woman agreed, but her husband objected, for he was afraid that once people heard that they had gone to his grave asking for forgiveness, it would be interpreted in the wrong way. Hence he refused.

And now we come to the last part of the story. Barely a few days later, the family of the man who had hired the carpenter was also sitting shiva for the man himself, who suddenly died.

Other than the obvious conclusion that there is a Judge and a judgment, there is another lesson to draw from this story. The Shelah writes that when Heaven decrees that a person should die, sometimes the defenders that he created by his merits and good deeds intercede for him, and he is given another chance.** In our story, defenders had intervened on the man’s behalf, and Heaven decided to give him another chance. If he used it properly, he would have been forgiven and the decree against him annulled.

If he had agreed to the Rav’s suggestion and gone to the grave of the carpenter, it would have been possible for Heaven to forgiven him. Yet since he refused, the most severe decree was enacted against him.

In general, says the Shelah, in such a case a test is sent to a person in the form of a poor man who comes to ask for tzeddakah in a very rude way, enough to infuriate anyone. Even though he has already received tzeddakah, he returns a second and a third time, not content with what he has received. This is how a man is put to the test, says the Shelah. Will he explode and get angry with the poor man, or instead – and despite the natural disdain that fills him – will he show compassion and overcome his evil inclination?

Hence when we encounter such a poor man – one who can truly exasperate the average individual – we must understand that it is very possible he may have been sent from Heaven in order to put us to the test, to see if we will control our natural tendencies and treat him with kindness, in which case the decree that may have been enacted against us will be annulled.

This is important to remember when we hear constant requests for donations being made in synagogue, when representatives of devoted charity organizations that do marvelous work go from one synagogue to the next in order to reach the public with their uplifting words, their goal being to collect funds for orphans and similar causes.

Sometimes we may think, “How many times can these people ask for money? How many? Can anyone possibly think that the wallets of bnei Torah are filled with unlimited supplies of money?”

There are cases in which, because of such thoughts, we decide that we are not going to give. In our minds, we object to the people who come to collect tzeddakah, and we come to the conclusion that enough is enough – that we can’t give any more – and that we’re not giving this time. We must realize that by making such a decision, we may be sealing our own fate.

** This actually happened to me.  Someone who had done me wrong, for many years, was injured [almost fatally].  I did not know about it, as I was out of town.  But I had a dream, and in the dream I was in Shamayim, I was giving evidence in the Bet Din in Shamayim.  I was asked a question: "should he live or should he die?"  

It wasn't that I was in charge of the matter, they just wanted my opinion.  I responded that he should live.  I was in the World of Truth at that time, and my soul responded according to the World of Truth, not according to the World of Lies.  

When I awoke from the dream, I remembered it, but I didn't understand it, because I didn't know what had happened to this person.  A few hours later, someone came and told me that such and such a thing had happened and that this person was hanging on to life by a thin thread.  I remembered the dream very clearly... and I was shocked.  

I'm sure other people were also called up to Shamayim to give evidence.... I wasn't the only one.... but that's how it works.  I just have the z'chus of being able to remember these dreams. [Devorah]

"A Time, Times and a Half of Time"

The words inscribed on the wall were Mene, Mene, Tekel, Parsin (or Peres]. Daniel explained their Divine meaning:

Mene: God has numbered the days of your reign and brought it to an end.

Tekel: You have been weighed on the scales and found wanting (deficient).

Parsin/Peres: Your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians.

United States has reportedly warned Poland that Russia may be preparing an armed provocation in the near future, with Belarusian forces potentially involved, according to media reports citing intelligence sources. Officials have not publicly confirmed the details.

Why Tzadikim Atone For All of Us

Question: How can the death of a Tzaddik become a Kapparah [atonement]?

Answer: The Tzadik is not a personal individual that has an impact only on himself, he is a public figure who impacts on all those around him; the loss of a Tzadik is therefore a public loss, not an individual or family one. The Tzadikim are here not for themselves, rather for others - that is how they live their lives and that is how they also die; Just as the death serves as atonement to the deceased himself, so the departure of a Tzadik does to his community.

The Three Weeks

 

The Three Weeks is an annual mourning period that falls out in the summer. - or winter if you're in the Southern Hemisphere. This is when we mourn the destruction of the Holy Temple and our launch into a still-ongoing exile. With an eye to the future, we also learn about the Third Temple, which is yet to be built. 

The period begins on the 17th of the Hebrew month of Tammuz, a fast day that marks the day when the walls of Jerusalem were breached by the Romans in 69 CE.  This year it begins on the night of July 1st.

It reaches its climax and concludes with the fast of the 9th of Av, the date when both Holy Temples were set aflame. This is the saddest day of the Jewish calendar, and it is also the date that many other tragedies befell our people . . . read more  about Tisha B’Av and the 3 Weeks: click here

Fooling Yourself

It is told that R' Pinchus of Koretz used to warn his disciples: ‘Never fool yourselves! Above all a Jew must be thoroughly honest with himself!’

Once one of his students challenged him. ‘But Rebbe,’ he said, ‘one who fools himself actually thinks he is being honest with himself. So how are we ever to know if we are being honest, or just fooling ourselves?’

‘You have asked wisely, my son,’ the Rebbe said. ‘The answer, however, is simple. It is written in Tanna d-Bei Eliyahu [an ancient Midrashic source] that anyone who is careful to speak words of truth will be sent a malach [an angel] who shows him the truth. One who speaks words of sheker [falsehood] will be sent a malach who fools and deceives him.

So, if you will be careful to always tell the truth, you will never “fool yourself.” If not, well …’ This is a very telling incident. One can live his⁄her entire life in deception, of others and of himself, and not have even the faintest notion he is doing so. R' Pinchus also used to tell his disciples: ‘It is better to choke, than to utter a lie.’”

R' Raphael said: “The Sages teach that the greatest labor of man should be to avoid self-deceit. But how can a man do so when he is deceived and believes his action to be right? By obeying the counsel of his friend, since his friend cannot profit by permitting the deceit to continue. We are also taught that he who labors for truth creates for himself an Angel of Truth who acts as a monitor to warn him of falsehood.”

R' Pinchas said: “He who is filled with self-importance lies to himself and he fools others to believe his importance."
