Paving the Way for Moshiach

Art; Dena Ackerman

Rashi explains the simple reason why the Torah begins to speak of Yehudah in the middle of the story of Yosef.  ''To teach us that [Yehudah's] brothers demoted him from his high position.''

However, Rashi does not explain why the entire account of Yehudah and Tamar was recorded here, leading up to the birth of Peretz and Zarach.

However, according to the explanation of the Midrash, we can understand that the account of Yehudah and Tamar was included here to explain the reason why Yosef was sold : because G-d was paving the way for Moshiach.

Thus, before we read of Yosef's enslavement, and the ensuing Egyptian exile, the Torah prefaces ''the cure before the disease'' informing us of G-d's inner intent.

Based on Sichos Shabbos Parshat Vayeishev 5751 Lubavitcher Rebbe

Mashiach's ancestry is so unusual that we expect such kinds of surprises when is about the living Mashiach of today. How about if he has a son by a non-Jewish woman? Will Mashiach be able to speak Hebrew? Is there any information that Mashiach has to speak Hebrew? Not all of Mashiach's ancestry were able to speak Hebrew.
Such kinds of surprises we expect from alive Mashiach of today. The episode of Judah and Tamar is an example how Hashem did hide the Mashiach's lineage to preserve the future.
The Mashiach of today lives in a non-significant country, he is unknown as Mashiach by any Jew, he appears not to be part of klal Yisrael. Zeh normal? Ken!

I don't know why everybody is waiting for a moshiach ben david. What do we learn from torah. Torah is divided into the time before moses and the time of moses. The ultimate conclusion of the time before moses is that even though his brothers were jealous of him, he came out to be king over them. And the conclusion of the end of torah is that joshua brought the nation of Israel into the land as king. Joshua being from the tribe of ephraim.
