" A new type of star may be the solution to a cosmic mystery. After a century of study, astronomers have finally worked out why a star called HD 45166 looks so strange, and it could be the key to understanding where curious stars called magnetars come from.
HD 45166 is located in a binary system about 3000 light years away and is a type of object called a Wolf-Rayet star, also known as a helium star because it has blown away its outer layers of hydrogen to reveal the underlying helium. But it has never looked quite like any other Wolf-Rayet star we have ever seen. “This star was known to be weird for about 100 years,” says Tomer Shenar at the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands. “It didn’t make any sense – it really contradicted theories, so it deserved more scrutiny.”
I wanted to post you an image of this star by an artist, but am unable to do so.
Let's remember that Rav Kanievsky zatzal called for all Jews to make aliya. Don't believe me, contact Rav Ron Chaya for first-hand info.
Last year 73,000 people made aliya. According to the Non Jewish Agency, the majority of these people were not Jewish by any stretch of the imagination. And even if someone passed for Jewish, that is not certain.
During the year, approximately 178,000 infants were born (74.8% born to Jewish mothers, 23.8% to Arab mothers and 1.4% to mothers of Others).
48,000 people died. So net 178k less 48k, 130,000, nearly three quarters Jewish, about 96k Jewish and about 14k Jewish olim, about 110k net Jews, vs about 90k net non Jews (current residents and new immigrants).
Even with a rising Jewish birth rate, and a falling Arab birth rate, we are literally being diluted and flooded, with mainly xns.
If Moshiach doesn't come very soon, or if Jews, frum Jews especially, continue to refuse to make aliya (I know what their communities look like, many, many of them very far from broke, that's the truth, not everyone is in dire circumstances) that is chalila, our future.
Unfortunately LL, Rav Kanievsky ztl was not Mashiah Ben David, only Mashiah will be able to gather all Jews to EY. And because of Erev Rav , there is a delay in that process, many Jews are influenced by them and not making Alia it is Mashiah job to gather all Jews . Pray for it , that all we can do…
MM , poor never will left behind in this case. And I am 100% sure that you are not poor because you at least have the internet. So, why you worry for the poor people who cannot make the Aliya, worry for yourself.
For M.M. there needs to be an organised mass aliya movement.
Collectively the Jewish community has plenty of money. The question is where is the ratzon, the will. If frum Jews wanted to they could get organised and lobby haredi and national religious MKs for help, and a frum NBN could be set up.
Jews in the diaspora should make a sort of chavura of ten adults, eight who are healthy and who have parnasa, and two in vulnerable situations. They make aliya to the same place, at least at the beginning and support each other socially, dealing with bureaucracy etc. A few Jewish gazillionaires could provide extra support for special needs cases.
Ein Od Milvado. Hashem hakol yachol. Hashem can turn every situation around. That doesn't mean that aliya doesn't have its challenges, but is there anything in life that is important and worth doing that doesn't?
Today, the main challenge is housing, but there is still affordable housing in Israel, and parnasa is much more accessible given the global economy. This is especially true for native English speakers. Life is so different today from even just a few years ago. Now more so than ever, other people's failed aliya stories are less and less pertinent. I failed in my first aliya. I was a graduate and was cleaning buildings, but it's completely irrelevant to making aliya today. You can set up online parnasa before you even set foot in Israel.
Hashem knows what is in our hearts, but we should also ask Hashem to make the impossible dream happen for us, lehodot al ha'avar ulvakesh al haatid, to thank for the past and to ask for the future. We can also thank Hashem for the future yeshuot, it's from the Zohar. And of course lehitakesh, be stubborn.
For Moshe, even if every frum Jew made aliya, there would still be plenty of work left for Moshiach, with the rest of the known Jews and the ten lost tribes. Every day there is a bat kol calling out lech lecha. The question is,is anyone listening. the Yanuka said that the geula is being delayed by Jews not making aliya. The clip was posted on this blog. He said it clearly and unequivocally. We should always daven, but that is not the only thing. We always have to make hishtadlut according to circumstances. Anyone who has any influence, even with just one other person, should try to use it to persuade other Jews to make aliya.
The other side of the coin is that Israel is in desperate need of real Jews, right now, right today.
Let me clarify the importance of making Aliya to EY. The majority of Poskim are saying that it is Mitsva Deoraita while others hold when Mashiah comes they will go up. Another important thing is that there is Mahloket if all Jews will make it or 20% from 100% will make it, like it was in a time of Yetziat Mitsrayim, when the rest 80% Jews died in Makat Hosheh. Also , in the time of Purim , it says Jews very comfortable and reach, and they have big Yeshivot, big hahamim, but they were so comfortable there that they did not want to leave Diaspora and Hashem must use the Stick (Haman and Ahashverosh) to remind them that is not their home. So now, will the history repeat itself like during Mitsrayim and Paras u Madai, I think so. If Jews will not leave willingly thenHashem will might use the same stick he used it before. So think good, are you want to come willingly or run Gd forbid or you will say when Mashiah come then I will go?
During the Holokost, Jews in Germany also taught it never will happen again, but suddenly the door was closed. It is just a warning , my intention to warn other Jews for coming danger. So, I think it worth it to come safely while you can.
So sad...I can tell you first hand the Rabbis are mostly responsible for the frum communities remaining in golus...when I went to make aliyah14 years ago the rabbi of the shul we davened at came to our house to talk me out of it....trying to frighten me with stories of how hard life is in Eretz Yisroel... What that Rabbi should have said was ...its going to be challenging but Beezrat Hashem you will get through it and Hashem will provide. I came away from that meeting feeling that the choice to move was correct and that there was really something deeply wrong with the community I lived in. Baruch Hashem, I am a skeptical person and I don't accept things at face value and make decisions independently...but now all I can think is how many members of that extremely wealthy community that could easily and luxeriently make aliyah with their entire families intact and probably help others less fortunate to move as well, blindly accept what the Rabbis tell them. I know many people can't for financial reasons or other valid reasons. But I know firsthand that this community that lives a decadent and self indulgent life style has only ridiculous excuses for not coming and the Rabbis tell them whatever they want to hear and whatever is good for fundraising. It's profoundly disturbing. CSF
When we were planning aliyah a rav told my husband he would lie in the street in front of our car to prevent us from leaving, because our children would go off the derech in Israel. Baruch Hash-m, we made aliyah anyway, and our children had a much more wholesome childhood avoiding the tuma of chutz l"Aretz.
Anyone who is concerned about Jews making aliyah, maybe could all pay special attention when saying תקע בשופר גדול in Shemona Esrei.
I also experienced to see those dog faces fake rabbis when I told them that I am going to make Aliya. Only my rabbi was happy and he told me the last Halaha before we say good bye to each other that if someone did not visit his parents cemetery for 10 years he cannot visit them anymore or unless he appoints someone to go on his behalf. And it is almost 10 years past and I remember him and this Halacha. Rav Belsky Shlita and Posek Halacha from New York , before my marriage I always wanted to make Aliya and I ask him that I am only the son and I have my mother who is very sick and on 1 hand I want to make Aliya and on the other hand I can not leave my mom. He told me according Halacha I can go . But I always knew that there is 5th Shulhan Aruch for everyone personally and I decided not go at that time. But years later after my marriage and having children in the US when my mom niftera I stayed another year , was making Big Siyum for her Yortzait and left America immediately. I decided that I do not want to come back in the next gilgulum, and who said it will be another chance? And Hashem took us on His wing I brought us here and we Baruh Hashem happy because we are at home finally and we keep His Torah in his Palace. Is anything else can be better than that?
…By the way , it was my second immigration , I was not born in America, so for me it was much harder to make Aliya at time. But with Gd help we did it and I believe you can do it too. The main thing is the Ratson and love for Hashem and Holy land.

L.L., the prosperous ones probably already own a backup apartment (or two or three) in E"Y, and maybe Florida, which they're renting out.
As for the middle-class, I won't speak for them. That leaves the poor. So should the poor be left behind?
