It's not "War of Redemption" (Milchemet HaGeulah), it's meant to be War of Revival (Milchemet Hatekumah) as is explained here:Netanyahu suggests changing name of Gaza war to ‘War of Revival’. The date on this is today but he mentioned it also a few weeks ago, wanting to change the name. On this I agree with the naysayers. It will always be the Simchat Torah War just like the Yom Kippur War.
This is what he said: To date, thanks to the bravery of our fighters in the IDF, the Israel Security Agency, the Mossad and Israel Police, we have made great inroads into the seven fronts of the "War of Redemption."
I don't know why it was mistranslated on the English side, but he spoke in Hebrew. 8th line down: "עד עכשיו, הודות לגבורת לוחמינו בצה''ל, בשב''כ, במוסד ובמשטרת ישראל, השגנו הישגים עצומים בשבע החזיתות של ׳מלחמת התקומה׳."
It's what he says in his speech - Milchemet Hatekumah. You can hear it if you listen to it. Also, read the TOI article I linked to.

He chose this name and started using it a few months ago. But not many have followed along. Some of us noticed with interest this change in name.
