Eclipsing the Wonders of Yetziat Mitzrayim

[text received via WhatsApp - author unknown]

The most significant thing is that the blood moon Joel 3:3 should be very familiar to everyone because it appears in our Haggadah in the signs and wonders that will eclipse [pun intended] the signs and wonders of Yetziat Mitzrayim to herald in the Final Redemption.... May it be so !

Total Lunar Eclipse

Tonight in Australia we will be able to see the full lunar eclipse: for full details of how to see it in your country click here.

The last time the moon turned red, I saw it with my own eyes, although the moon was quite far away and just a small red dot in the sky.  This time the moon will be much closer to us, and as the weather is fine here I'm hoping for an amazing sight.

The Longest Eclipse

The longest eclipse of the 21st century can be seen Friday nigth/Saturday morning.

Video: Rabbi Simon Jacobson
Some of life's greatest lessons can be derived (learned, gleaned) from the cosmos. We can learn much from just looking up at the heavens (sky) and watching the celestial bodies in space. This is especially true for the moon, which has always mesmerized the human race. Its close proximity to earth, its haunting glow, its phases and effects on our tides and plants -- have fed science, religion and folklore, and our quest to better understand ourselves and the world in which we live.

During the night of the full moon this month (on July 27/the 15th of Av) the longest total lunar eclipse of the century will fill the sky (it won't be visible in North America, but most of the Eastern Hemisphere will see it). Totality will last for 1 hour and 43 minutes!

Please join Rabbi Jacobson for this special full moon edition, and learn fascinating lessons - personal, spiritual and psychological - (personal, spiritual and psychological lessons from this historic lunar eclipse. Discover the deeper meaning of the moon as an archetype reflected in each one of us, and how the lunar cycles and eclipses illuminate and teach us extraordinary personal, spiritual and psychological lessons for our lives and our relationships.

Super Red/Blue Moon

At the end of January, we are going to see a red blue moon.

A blue moon is the term used when one month contains two full moons.  However, this time it coincides with a total lunar eclipse, which will turn the moon a deep red colour.

According to Space.com the total lunar eclipse on January 31 will be the first time an event of this kind has coincided with the Blue Moon in over 150 years.

That Moon ....

The moon on Friday night was absolutely incredible, did anyone else see such a huge moon?

Here's a photo of what we saw in Sydney [obviously not taken by me] - it was the biggest looking moon I've seen for a very long time.

I hope you're enjoying Succot, I'll be back after the Chag iy""H.

The Effects of a Solar Eclipse

HT Avrohom Alter

Rabbi Avigdor Miller on solar eclipses:

The gemara says that a solar eclipse is a sign of ill fortune for the gentiles. [A lunar eclipse is a sign of ill fortune for Jews]

So this gentleman asks, rightly, how can it be a sign of ill fortune if it happens according to mathematical precision? And the answer is as follows.

Any change in the fortunes of the world is foreseen by Hashem. Nothing happens by itself. Hashem ordains when some good fortune should happen to the world, or chalila when some misfortune should happen, and He makes it turn out on certain auspicious dates.

When He plans a misfortune for the umos haolam [nations of the world], He makes it happen at the time of a solar eclipse.

A solar eclipse is to let you know that this is planned by Hashem and it’s not an accident. Let’s say at the time of a solar eclipse something happens in a far off country like Tibet where there are no Jews. You shouldn’t say that one thing has nothing to do with the other. The reason that it happened then was to bring your attention to it and make you aware that Hashem is in charge of the world. He made it turn out at the time of the solar eclipse...

Therefore, it’s not that the solar eclipse is made to happen at a time of some misfortune to the gentiles, the misfortune to the gentiles is made to happen at the time of the solar eclipse. Why? In order to label it, to let us know that it’s the yad [hand of] Hashem. –

Sunglasses at Night

Did you read More Weird Things in the Sky ?

And the light of the moon shall be like the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold as the light of the seven days, on the day the Lord shall bind the fracture of His people, and the stroke of their wound He shall heal. [Isaiah 30:26]

What is Going on with the Moon ?

This guy is posing the same questions that I have.  What exactly is going on with the Moon lately?  It is too bright, it has a large aura around it that is also very bright, and we keep seeing these blood moons.  The moon talk is at the beginning of the video, for the first 4 minutes approx.  I wouldn't bother with the rest of the video.

If you don't like Steve Olson, then don't watch this, but please don't complain about it either, unless you can explain the moon's weird positions and appearance - in which case I'll happily replace Steve with you !

Unfortunately, Sydney's clouds obscured the moon as it rose last night, and although there are photos around, I haven't yet seen one that I love...... but here is a great shot of the Super Moon last night, taken by Tonly Cheng in San Francisco.

The 70 Year Supermoon

Supermoon in Israel. Credit: Sergei25/Shutterstock.com

On 14 May 1948, the day before the expiration of the British Mandate, David Ben-Gurion, the head of the Jewish Agency, declared "the establishment of a Jewish state in Eretz-Israel, to be known as the State of Israel".

On the night of Sunday November 13, the Moon will be the closest to Earth it's been since January 1948 and will appear up to 14 percent bigger and 30 percent brighter than an average full moon. This is the closest the Moon will get to Earth until 25 November 2034.    We know that the moon represents the Jewish people.  Is this supermoon a sign ..?

Here Come The SuperMoons

The October full moon kicks off the first of three supermoons happening in late 2016 - [but whether it will be red or not is anyone's guess these days]

Sky-watchers are gearing up for a super-sized moon that will grace evening skies this Sunday, October 16. The so-called hunter’s supermoon kicks off a lunar triple play happening over the next three months.

The full moon on the 16th will appear 16 percent larger than average and nearly 30 percent larger than the year’s smallest full moon, which we saw back in April.

The full moons of November and December will also be supermoons. Next month’s supermoon promises to be the most impressive, as it will be the largest full moon visible in our skies so far this century.

Red Moon Over Manhattan

I can't believe I missed this one - better late than never!   Photo shows the red moon over Manhattan on the night of August 24.  Photo by Jennifer Khordi.

Why is it red?  Probably because Nibiru is reflecting it's redness upon it.
