Super Moon Photos

Unfortunately, Sydney's clouds obscured the moon as it rose last night, and although there are photos around, I haven't yet seen one that I love...... but here is a great shot of the Super Moon last night, taken by Tonly Cheng in San Francisco.

Below: super moon rising in Israel - photographer unknown.

Wow, nothing like what I saw here in Jerusalem.

Apparently India had the best view. And they are telling us here that tonight we will have a much better moon experience in Sydney....

This photo is a total gimmick. Photographer likely used a superzoom lens to zoom in and subsequently magnify everything in the picture. Building and cars might look naturally proportial when magnified, but no way that moon is this big! In Chicago the moon was not much bigger than usual last night, it was very bright though.
Zorik.

Zorik, maybe a few photographer's tricks, but it's all in the timing, and the perspective. You need a building or object to intensify the size. It's also a trick of the eye. I added another shot from Israel, you may prefer that one.

Dear Devorah,
Second picture is more realistic. I am surpised how large the moon looks there, it was not much bigger in Chicago last night. I guess the geography matters as well.
Thank you again for sharing the pictures with us.
Zorik.

Best time to view is as the moon is beginning to rise, just before end of sunset. You will have another chance tonight.

Did anyone notice that the shaded areas of the moon appear differently in the various photos of the Super Moon? Is it because we are in different countries?

Yes I think so, on my side of the world we see everything differently.
