The Power of Prayer, 'they are already dead'.

Maybe it skipped your notice, but that post in your feed is highly inappropriate, and contradicts the most basic principles of emuna, and is disrespectful to the anguished families of the missing.

Obviously in the news we hear about the tragedies, but through the grapevine I'm hearing stories of nisim. An elderly sephardi woman at home with her husband offered the five terrorists who broke into their home, coffee and cake, she managed to keep them talking, back and forth between the kitchen and in the meantime alerted her policeman son. All five terrorists were killed. B"D, ken yirbu.

Be"D Hashem will completely destroy our enemies, their sword should fall in their hearts, and bring all the soldiers and hostages home alive and well.

I saw that blog post you are referring to. It is just her opinion. I suggest you leave a comment there. There is no proof of anything.

Although I should say that at some stage last night I did think much the same thing, because holding hostages is hard work. They have to be fed etc. If I was a hostage held by Hamas I would prefer to die HY"D and go straight to Heaven.

That doesn't mean I agree that they are already dead. We don't know. Live hostages can be used in many ways that we don't even want to think about.

This is the time that Chazal have told us that while they await Moshiach they do not want to see his coming. Because of the all the troubles we have to go through.

In this video, from approx the 2:44min mark, Rabbi Simon Jacobson talks about the spiritual war, and what we can do SPIRITUALLY. It's a short video, and worthwhile watching. HT: Rivka

Like L.L. I also came across a miracle story (I forget where, maybe it was Tamar Yonah or else a news video). A woman was on one of the kibbutzim with two children. They weren't her own children. One was a baby, the other was maybe 4-years old. A terrorist grabbed her, and hauled the child on his shoulders, with her still holding the baby. They were outside, heading to the exit, when out of the clear blue he suddenly motioned to her to "skedaddle", along with the kids. So she turned back with the kids, and even though there were other terrorists with hostages heading in her direction, they all ignored her, and she lived to tell the tale.

I strongly suspect that an angel might have materialized disguised as a soldier visible only to the Hamas guys. I've read in the past of such types of miracles happening.

I don't know if you or the commenter viewed the video but this was quoting the rabbi on Jewish law in wartime, not my opinion.

The Rachel story has gone viral all over Israel. Rachel for PM. I heard another story, a bit long, but in the end the man was in a safe room in a petrol station, when the barbarians didn't manage to smash it open, they started ramming it with a car. the door was beginning to buckle under the pressure, the man had a son or other relative in the army, and B"D managed to explain to them where he was, and he was saved.

The Rachel story is all over Israeli social media, and websites:

Brave Grandma stalls terrorists with chat and cookies
Held hostage with her husband for 20 hours in their home, Rachel Edri used food and conversation to keep 5 armed intruders calm until their capture.

She is a ray of light in this nightmare, and instantly became a part of Israeli folklore and humour, the kind of humour needed to break the tension. It's palpable.
