A Guard Rail for Your Ego

Photo Geof Kern

When you build a new house, you shall make a guard rail for your roof... [Ki Teitze 22:8]

A roof, being the highest part of any structure, alludes to the ego, which gives a person an elevated impression of himself.

Thus, in order to prevent a person from ''falling off his roof'' by allowing his feelings of swollen self-esteem to degenerate into selfishness, we are warned to ''make a guard-rail for your roof'' - to carefully control and temper the ego with ''guard-rails''.

Based on Likutei Sichos vol 24 p 140 Lubavitcher Rebbe

Just want to let all who might have read my plea of help, that i said the prayer that Devorah wrote on comments, and I went to the Rabbi Meir site, said the prayer, and have found my lost things, and more.
Thanks Devorah,
God bless you and Am Israel ... Amen.
A Noahide.

Anonymous: What Devorah gave you is what we say. However you need to believe in the words while saying it..... that Hashem can hide it from your eyes or 'make you see it'.....

Give some charity to the poor and ask HaShem to please help you find what it is that you need.

Yes SGK that's exactly what it is.
I did this when my mother a"h lost her engagement ring, she had actually lost it for YEARS and they'd looked everywhere. I said the prayer and gave tzedaka and went over to their house and walked in the door and the first thing I saw was a little blue box on the bookcase opposite the door. I went to the box and opened it and there was the ring. She'd put it in the box, and left it on the bookcase for some reason and all those years no-one knew where it was.
I'm glad you found your lost things and now you know that this actually works, Rabbi Meir ba'al HaNess, the master of the miracle. IT's incredible.

Only tzedaka i put aside because unable to go give it, where i want to give the donation.
Gd bless you all.
A Noahide.
